I am but need to get the TL retrofit done first. I ain't driving with halogen

I'm selling the Odyssey Retrofit as well. 1 week after I finished it we decided (mostly my wife) to look for 08-up Ody and I said yes..yes..since those buckets are huge that it can fit LS430 projectors that I've been saving it for few years

02/27/13: 00-01 Maxima TL retrofit

I guess all roads lead to TL projector as it still is the best BI-X to date.

OEM Headlights, little yellowing on the lenses but should clean up good when done.

Projector comparison
Left to right, FXR,G37, and TL. You can see that the TL is huge in every direction,

FXR in reflector bucket

TL in the bucket....ehmmm..didn't fit

But not too worry, as long as it fits in the housing that is a good start..

OEM G37 shrouds....or something else

I really want to do full LED turn signal again, except this time is doing the my own LED. Thinking of putting superfluxes behind that amber lens the whole length. It would have PWM to control the voltage so it can be both turn and parking lights.

Or something like this......

Or this

1st fitment. Half of the bucket is gone, the headlight housing is trimmed, projector solenoid is trimmed. Still not enough I think I need more room to be able to adjust up/down.

Shrouds....hmmm not sure.

Projector tuning,
Stock TL with OEM ZKW lens at 120'. Too much color for my taste and loosing a little intensity.

Tuned at 120'. LOVE it! Razor sharp with thin color band, better intensity. The blue will start to appear at 130'. At 20' it looks ugly, but that's the nature of focusing the beam. Some like razor sharp at close distance, others like long distance focus.

Im hoping I can get some info on this TSX high beam reflector...do you remember the original diameter? have any other pics of it? or at least a close guess if you know the diameter of your shrouds. Ive been looking at using an H1 reflector from a bmw headlight but this looks like more of what I want to use..

I cut a lot of those TSX high beam, they are about 4" dia I think. Anything would work if you trim it .
Dia of the shroud is about 3"

Depends on your car I guess, this is for 5th gen and your signature shows you have older generation. 00-03 Ebay dual relfector style headlights are the ones I used on this. But those headlights already have high beam reflector. I changed mine because I tossed the whole reflector assy and replaced them with custom bracket for quad projector. Then I sold the high beam projectors so i need to fill the space. I could put the original high beam reflector that came with it, but It was in bad shape.

Something tells me that TL's in 5.5 housing are pretty much impossible to pull off.

A little progress.

I have not been doing any retrofit lately.....been very busy at work.

Iris shrouds with selenoid cover.

Selenoid cover is made out of 1/2" Stainless Steel strip, bent, and mounted

Started the LED turn signal.

This is my very first LED turn signal from ground up. So I have no idea if this going to turn out the way I'd imagine. We'll be using Agilent HPWT-DH00 Superfluxes. Thinking of built in power regulator running 12V at 50 mA draw for 50 LEDs each side. Not sure if that is bright enough, but this led is rated at 70 mA for 5lm. We'll have the outer LEDs for parking and inner rows for turn signal. Thinking of putting the reflector dome on each led also. PCB will be painted silver, the bezel will be satin black.

If you have the broken piece, weld it and re-enforce with this
Q Bond Repair Kit Small Quick Bonding Adhesive : Amazon.com : Automotive Q Bond Repair Kit Small Quick Bonding Adhesive : Amazon.com : Automotive
.

If you don't have the broken piece, then I would use Aluminum flashing attached ( screw) to the housing, then Qbond it or epoxy

So I guess this is the first time for me to see what red orange led color is. I don't think this is what I want, it should be more orange since this is for front turn signal....

with 33 ohm

with 33 + 220 ohm

really don't have a reference how bright this need to be. Maybe this is a good candidate for PWM

Any thoughts?

G37 Bowl condition after 11 months running 50W Mori

Opened the lights this weekend, replaced worn rubber cap, and converted the high beam connector to 9006 for more universal. Planning to sell this as soon as I finish the TL. I wanted to know the bowl condition from running 50W. 1-1.5 hours/day commute time for about 11 months now and the both bowls still looks brand new,

00-03 Ebay Dual Reflector FXR Retrofit Build

It's been awhile since I did any retrofit. Last time I did full retrofit was on Odyssey which I ended up selling the lights and the Van altogether.

This retrofit is for a fellow ORGer. Projectors are FX-R 3.0 3" with E46 Shrouds ( at least the plan, we'll see how it goes together).

Recived the lights few days ago and looked good.

Few Scratches on the shrouds but no big deal since it will be cut away anyway.

I have a spare headlights exactly like these and decided to hack it open and mocked up where and how much I'm going to cut. Last time I did retrofit using these headlights, I ended up creating custom bracket since the projector was too big. I also happened to have FXR 3.0 with 2.5" lens, so this is perfect practice, hopefully when I cut his brand new headligths it would be cut once and done.

Lost of trimming on the reflector, no surprised here.....

Hmm.....starting to feel like I cut enough. That area by the 2 posts that atatched the mouting screw is getting weaker everytime I cut. If I go more, I might need to create new bracket from scratch or re-enforce the heck out of this cheese cake.

Well....it's time to trim the projector then...

After few more cuts on the projector, we have this

Man...I'm nervous about that area by the post....

Test fit in the bucket....

Put the bezel on and didn't fit. See the big gap on the top, it should be about flush there

Well...I guess more cutting this time its the bezel that gets hacked

The gap is gone but see how close the projector is to the bezel, there will be no vertical and horizontal adjsutment with that little clearance...defenetly not good. Not sure what to do yet.......

No Gap.

The back looks decent ( not sticking out too much). Looks like I can take it back even further but at the cost of making new projector bracket....

More cutting on the projector. Need to bury the projector deeper in the reflector to gain clearance to the bezel.

Still not enough...cut the reflector this time

After all of that cuttings. We'll secure it and check for clearance at full range adjustment capability. The reflector need to be strengthen since it is very weak now after all of that cutting especially with the weight of the projector.

Mount projector to the bucket and put them in the car for initial check of alignment. Not enough vertical alignment.

Left is my current headlight, right is the FX-R on lowest vertical alignment. I do admit my G37 isn't as sexy anymore next to FX-R

Well that's a bummer about the alignment. Considering the timing of things, maybe I should hunt down for a set of TSX high beam reflectors to go with this retro.

Decided to go with bracket for clean install. Projector is mounted further back. It can be adjusted up/down, tilt, and rotation.

It's hard to see if the projector is actually mounted deeper, but it is. The good thing about using custom bracket, I didn't even need to shave anything on the projector. This projector is untouch, new, not cut at all.

Brackets are almost done. Hopefully to assemble and aim this weekend. If things look good, I would then open your brand spanking new lights and transfer the guts....

Use the real FX-R projectors Maximase86 provided, this is the only modification I've done to the FX-Rs. 2 holes on the top for vertical mounting. A little trick to keep the projectors clean out of drilling debris, double sticky tape them!

The cut off shield holder has this surface defect that I'm not sure what it is. Try to clean it with Alcohol and didn't make any different, looks like some kinda of oxidation but I don't think it is rust.
