Dudeeeeee that's nice. What's the set up?

I'm sure you've been keeping up your thread on HIDP but I haven't been on there in a few days.

Rotation aiming took about 5 minutes, that's what I love about custom bracket!

I think the colors look good. I thought it would look too much but I like it so far but that's just me though:thumbsup2:

Someone local and also fellow .org-er donated these headlights to me a few weeks back. It's been staring at me the whole time begging for restoration and retrofit work

So, I took it down to 800 and went back up to 1000 & 2000 before compounding and polish. Looks pretty fresh now.

I'll do either Mini H1 or FX-R and probably will end up on the For Sale thread when its done.

I wonder what the Mini D2S square projectors would be like for this. Maybe too square?

This could be my last retro on 5th gen Maxima.....

OEM stock, FX-Rs 2.5" Bi-X with M45 shrouds.

Painted bezel

Added amber accent on the turn signal area. Possibly full LED turn signal.

W/Shroud. It's hard to see, but the shroud has blue/green tint chrome, pretty cool actually.

Different way to attach the projector to the reflector using a plate mounted on the projector and secure the plate to the reflector. Using this approach, rotational adjustment is still easy and projector can be mounted deep in the reflector.

Wait for the epoxy (couple location to mount the shrouds) to cure then should be be ready to seal. Added few beads of Koito seal. I've never go back to any other sealant other than Koito. It is the best butyl rubber sealant available next to OEM

Compare this retro with the Mini or FXR I did a while back (pics below), this time the projector is mounted deeper in the reflector, it looks cleaner I think.

Thanks, I'll check back daily. I know that these are only the bulbs and housings, what ballast, and harness would I need as I'm already running mini H1's in my 2000 Maxima?

You can use the ballast you have with these D2S to AMP adaptor.

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/acc...-straight.html

As far as harness, this is what I have but you can get it similar from ebay if you want to save a little.

Ok, Thank You! It looks like the D2S AMP adaptor will be all I need. I thought that I would have to swap out the entire setup that I'm running currently..

Been on my car for few days now and loved it, the green/blue tint from the shroud is subtle and added nice touch. You can still see the tint from far away at day time. It's been last week and today. Although the headlights are sealed, but light/mist fogging still happens when it weather is wet and humid.

light fogging on the corner. Moisture trap in the corner and can't get out.

Can't really tell from the frontal view though...

looks really good on the car I think.. Notice....still no condensation.....

Went for a drive to video shoot...

Parked the car, went outside to get mail, then condensation appeared on the driver side. It happened few days back when it was raining hard here too (after 30 minutes drive). I re-sealed and re-test it and it was water tight. Only on the driver side, which is strange. I think its time to place the Silicon pack.

1 hour later the right section is gone....

the moisture in the air inside of them when they get sealed up might be doing. i have to wonder what pulling a vacuum would do. also aero gel heat shielding might help the engine compartment form heating up the backs of the lights.

It would work. I actually tried putting a small hose from the headlight housing to the engine air intake, to pull air (vacuum) from inside the headlight. A heating element inside the headlight works also. There are ways to do it.

OEM housing doesn't do this since the plastic has more glass thus more stable from temperature fluctuation.

Not at all. The headlights has vent(s), so it is not drawing vacuum other than re-circulating the air better. Just don't hook it up after the air filter, anything before air filter should be fair game.

Those Anzo headlights are a waste of money, really.

Another 5th gen FX-R retro

Found a decent set of OEM headlights and FX-R 3.0 Bi-X for another 5th gen retrofit. With custom bracket, I was able to get the projector to sit deep in the bucket. Depending on the projector you use, this is the furthest back you can mount the projector without interfering the bucket too much.

Not sure what I'm thinking but sprayed the chrome reflector with clear amber paint. The bezel will be painted flat black and the shroud is chrome. We'll see...hopefully it isn't too much...

There is some really nice work in this thread. I specifically like the single projector retros in the 5th gen headlamp assemblies.

How much clearance is needed behind the headlamps for these type of retrofits?

Would you be kind enough to post an under hood pic?

Reason I ask is I have charge piping which is very close to the back side of the OEM assemblies.

Again, nice work.
