And when I said the OP is making an investment in short-term happiness, and there's nothing wrong with that... what I meant is that heroin addicts make that rationalization all the time.

To me I think modding in a way is an investment....even though the value of the car goes down. But put it this way...I spent $8000 for the car......even if I did $15k worth of mods, engine build, heaeders, engine management, etc......still total $23k and your car will be ALOT faster and perform ALOT better than ANY car that you can buy for $23k off the lot. Your car will perform better than alot of cars that cost 3x that amount. So to me its a cheap way to have a sports car without paying sports car money! Even a new 370z will cost you about $32-$39K depending on which model you get.......with about 330hp-350hp (at the CRANK).........put $15k into a Maxima....and you will have more than 330hp(AT THE WHEELS).....and still will not have spent even $30k....

I like what you've doing ranmas, much respect as I know it ain't cheap to coat stuff. I think you're the first to coat everything from head to toe...
Personally, I had my headers coated and stopped there.

Well I've been very blessed so I can mod my vehicle and still have money left to put towards savings on a home.

OK!!! Finally got EVERYTHING installed!! At first it took some time getting used to and I think maybe the ECU had to relearn everything...but it's driving and sounding GREAT!!!! Thing REALLY HAULS now boy..especially after 4k!!! I find myself taking the EXTRA long way home from work just to drive it a little longer!! It was funny I went to the Autozone to ask one of the guys a question about the engine and he came out and was like "Oh it's a Maxima." like he seen one he seen them all......then he looked inside and said "Dude, this is a 6 speed??" I said "yeh." He was like "I didn't know they made 6 speed Maximas." So anyway he was walking back into the store and just as he opened the door to go back in...I started the car.....VROOOMMMM. The look on his face was PRICELESS....He turned around and just STOPPED dead in his tracks like a deer in headlights.....Almost like "WTF????" LOL....He watched me back up and leave. Yeh...never seen a MAXIMA with big ***** huh??? Backup!!!

On another note spoke with Speed Force Racing...they are going to make me a custom IM with a bigger diameter elbow and that flange that holds the 09 Maxima 75mm TB that I got AND wire up a Haltech 350z Platinum Pro so its PnP. I'm also going to order their engine cover as well. They are going to powder coat the engine cover and IM a polish color so it looks cool and lasts! I can't wait.......I'm thinking I will put down about 280whp with a good tune. With all the previous mentioned equipment and the 3.5" intake and LRMAF!!! Going to be so ignorant!! Then CAMS and springs next to hit past 300whp!!

Happy for you ranmas2004! I'm guessing you'll be posting more and more over the next few weeks, as things settle in and you learn what the new normal is in different gears and different situations.

Fun stuff, eh?

Since you're in the Northeast, and it's almost October... AND you've got all these big plans still, I'm guessing you'll be working on a gameplan over winter for next Spring, right?

You know I have been able to drive the car around after all the mods installed for a while now....after driving for about 30 mins as soon as I got home I decided to open up the hood and see how hot it was under there....I did..touched the intake filter....not hot at all..not even the intake piping....then I put my hand near the headers......it was hot WARM at best...not blazing hot though...still can't touch them though......the intake manifold can now be touched all day long thanks to the spacers!!! Bottom line...the under hood temps are WAY WAY WAY less...I was considering a vented hood...but I'm not going to need one...combination of the ceramic coated exhaust and intake spacers REALLY REALLY cooled things under the hood down big time!!!! Now my intake wont be sucking up all that heat!!!! MORE POWER!!!

The phenolic is cooling down the IM, sure, but mostly it's because you were driving the car around. Try leaving the car at idle for 20 minutes with the hood shut, and see what's what.

Good. I imagine getting an aftermarket vented hood is like getting a Star Trek tattoo, where it wouldn't take long to regret it.

Alright, I'm going to let the car idle for awhile and check the engine temperature then. But even BEFORE all the mods after I drove around it was still pretty darn hot there.

I was trying to find a vented hood with rain guards but nothing extreme like those MUSTANG or Firebird hoods. I was thinking something more like the EVO hoods with just a little vent up on the top, but no one have rain guards on them and I don't want water and crap getting all up in the engine...it's not worth it to me.
