Car keeps dying... HEEEELP :(

Hey guys.

My car turns off and on no problem. I can leave it off all night and it would turn on the next morning with no problem.

The problem comes when I have the ignition switch on (the car is not on) for 5 mins or so then try turning the car on. It cranks for a second then it stops.

I know having the radio on, my cluster on etc.. drains my battery, but seriously, does 5 minutes drains the entire battery? I used to go to the drive through theatres and turn the car off and have the radio on for an hour and so and the car would turn on.

FYI, my battery and ebrake lights on my dashboard are not on. So it's not my alternator. I've also took my battery to the local shop and asked them to test and see if my battery is good and they told me its perfect.

I still went ahead and borrowed my friends battery and the same thing happened.

So basically when I get my car boosted and drive it around for 10 minutes, I can pretty much turn it off and on with no problem. But then again, if I have the ignition switch on for couple of mins, the car won't even bother turning on.

Could it be that my car is not fully charging the battery?
Please let me know what you guys think. This issue is driving me crazy

Thanks in advance guys.

Take your car to car down to Autozone and have the charging system tested. I think your alternator is on it's way out.

Chris hit it on the head. Your alternation probably oat throwing enough amperage. Had that issue when I came bk from Afghanistan, it burned up my battery so I'd deg jump on it

Your charging system isn't working fully. Sooner or later it will ruin your battery.
Sounds kind of like a problem I think I have. I can listen to the radio on ACC for long enough and it still starts up but if I leave the key ON to use windows and leave it there for a while, the car starts really rough. Is this normal? My limited knowledge tells me that the pumps and whatever els happens when "on" gives the engine more resistance and more fuel to start and makes the start very rough.
