My cars been having a problem where its sputtering under wot and been slugglish in the higher rpms. I had an o2 sim installed, reset the ecu and installed a nwp bop today and its pulling a lot better. Problem is around 5-5.5k rpm, the car begins sputtering and hesitates accelerating any further. I have no idea what the problem could be, and can make a video if needed to explain what Im talking about.

Mods: Car has intake, headers, bop, and an exhaust.

 

Do you have a SES light? What type/brand of filter does your intake have?

 

Was it doing this before o2 sim install?

 

Have you cleaned and oiled your filter recently? Could me the MAF sensor. Try taking it out and cleaning it

 

I was thinking that myself. That's why I have a dry flow filter

 

Filter is pretty much brand new. Its a spectre 3" filter.

The car has no CEL/SES lights.

It was doing this prior to the o2 simulator. I thought the o2 simulator would fix the problem but that doesn't seem to be the case. Ill take the maf out next and clean it with some maf cleaner and see if that helps out at all.

 

Might want to check for any air leaks, also have you been burning oil even a bit higher than normal? if so you may have a cat getting clogged up ... bad fuel or clogged injectors, might want to try some seafoam in your next fill up of gas ... just a couple of thoughts that also come to mind ... cleaning the MAF sensor is a good place to start.

 

That's good advice. Also, how many miles are on your car? The factory spark plugs have a 100K mile service interval. It wouldn't hurt to take one out and give it a visual inspection to see what it looks like.

 

My dakota sputtered at high speeds in low gear and.at wot... turned out to be a bad plug in a higher cylinder... just a.thought

 

Is your Max a 5.5 gen?

I know its a pain to check but number #5 (under the manifold) and closest to the driver side of the car have been know to get full of oil.

As T_Behr has mentioned if the plugs are getting old it may just be time to swap them all out and breath some fresh life back into the engines spark.

 

Only thing I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is vacuum leaks, check all ur hoses.

I have a spectre filter too and I don't trust it very much : /

 

Probably a bad coil pack. When the car starts to sputter, glance at the check engine light and see if it blinks.
