who manufactures cattman mufflers

Im thinking about getting another DE-K as a daily... the one deal breaker is the fact that cattman is out of or going out of business so by the time im ready to buy im sure it will be gone by then, there is a local shop that i wouldnt mind doing my catback but unfortunately im not sold on any muffler tips at all... sooo does anbody know who actually manufacture these mufflers.... i dont mind paying extra for it

Almost sure I just read it in this thread. Cattman himself mentions his mufflers being built in-house....unless I read wrong or misunderstood something.

How many muffler manufacturer's are there in the U.S. that make straight through mufflers? There can't be that many. I think I recall him saying something in a thread a while back that they're made in the midwest, but I can't recall exactly.

This would be a sweet replacement to the magnaflow muffler. Can you say BRM piping kit with a cattman muffler!

From research i've done in the past, nearly all straight-thru mufflers either use stainess steel wool, ceramic "wool", a blend of both, or continuous roving fiberglass for their packing material to absorb sound. Other than these differences in sound deadening material, they're all relatively much the same in physical design. The manufacturing process of one of these mufflers shouldn't be that difficult. All you need is a case, perforated tube, and sound deadening packing material, and then weld it together. I'm sure this is why alot of Chinese made cat-backs you see for alot of different cars for sale on ebay cost less. I'm sure the quality is hit or miss, but it's a roll of the dice.

Magnaflow...they are 14". I'd advise going with a 18" or bigger.

I think you can order their exhaust without a resonator, and then you can add your own in since they only offer one size resonator with their 3" exhaust.

Borla is about the only one that comes to mind and I'm fairly sure they still hold a patent on the design.

Too bad Stromung is only making catbacks and downpipes for Sentra's.

Im pretty sure Brian said he was starting to make the next batch of 3'' at the start of Jan.

It was referring to the length of a resonator, not the muffler.

He's still taking 3" catback orders and is still in business! His products are in-house with his partner!

Like I stated earlier....Nishfish's OEM exhaust manifold wih BRM 3" s louder an My Cattman headers and 3" catback! Borla offers a 3" inlet/dual 2.5" or 2.25" outlet 19" long x 9.5" wide x 4.5" high muffler!!! Very smilar to Cattman's except Brian's splits into 2 outlet at the rear of the muffler and Borla splits in the front w/dual perforated tubes! Borla's 3 inlet/2.25 outlet is very pricey though!

I would like to know where you got the louder statement from because videos don't say show loud it is unless I had a dB meter which I didn't. I'm sure it is now, with 3" test pipe and gutted cats. Hopefully I'll meet with one of the guys here that has a Cattman exhaust and do a comparison

Actually I was referring to the muffler but the same applies to the resonator.

Hit the nail on the head, if you look at the stromung mufflers they are exactly the same as the cattman muffler. Honestly I don't think Brian makes anything in house, stromung makes the whole catback and he's just a vendor.

Would you say the 3" BRM is too loud?

Honestly with a 3", GO LOUD OR GO HOME! I don't understand how people mod there cars get a 3" exhaust and are worried about sound? Seriously, if you're worried about sound pull up your panties and hop in the pink prius.

Ahhh ok, well i have no cats, and no resonator, so i guess i SHOULD buy the whole set with the resonator then. lol I kinda like my exhaust without one, but im afraid to know how loud it would be without the resonator when i get my BRM 3"!

This ^

The quality of the Cattman headers and 3" exhaust is second to NONE!!! Worth every penny! I believe it makes about 10whp more than the standard 2.5" aftermarket exhaust! Just place an order and wait, its worth it.

I would have to do a group order, then wait. Put a deposit and do more waiting. Come may if people are down i will go for cattman. I heard it in person last weekend, amazing. But otherwise i will give BRM a shot
