Combo Meter and Illumination Wires in 5.5 gen Bose HU

I posted this question in the audio forum but no response and im about to get to work on replacing the Blose HU on my 5.5 gen and speakers. im putting in new speakers along with new wiring and i did tons of research since im an amateur at radio install. im going to be installing a DIY grounding kit with 4 awg wire which ill have left over, along with installing an aswc, rear view camera, amp and sub etc. im pretty sure i have everything figured out aside from two things. What is the red with black stripe wire for the combo meter in the stock harness? All im going to need from the stock harness is the Illumination, constant 12v, ground (metal dash support) and ign on 12v. what do i do with the combo meter wire? just leave it not connected to anything?

another question is the the stock harness has two illumination wires, one for illumination dimmer and the other for illumination on/off, which one do i connect to the illumination wire from my new HU (Pioneer Appradio)?

also i know to ground the brown wire to retain my trip button function on the steering wheel, or will i not have to do that since im using the axxess aswc?

thank you all so much for your help (via searching), i've already found out pretty much everything i need to know about the radio overhaul, but these two things i cannot manage to figure out...

For the combo meter, the red/black stripe wire is 12 volts for illumination.

The red/yellow stripe wire is the other wire needed for illumination. This wire is from the dimmer dashboard switch and controls how bright the lights are by controlling the ground and this is the wire for the head unit.

I don't know about the brown wire, sorry.

So the combo meter wire i should just loop it back into the harness' 12v wire (Yellow wire)?
and the dimmer illumination wire (red with YELLOW stripe) is the one i hook up and leave the illumination on/off wire alone (red with WHITE stripe) ?
here is what im referring to for a diagram...

I looked up the Pioneer app radio install guide:

http://pioneerelectronics.com/Static...tionManual.pdf

The power cord for the radio has 4 wires, yellow, red, orange and black.
To hook up to the Nissan harness, you want to do this -

Pioneer -> Nissan
----------------
yellow --> purple
red --> yellow
orange --> red/yellow stripe - not sure about this, see below
black --> chassis ground

the orange wire connection depends on what the pioneer hu wants. If the display is not illuminated from the internal pioneer connections, then you need to connect the orange wire to the Nissan red/white stripe. With the red/white wire, the illumination will be on or off, no dimming. The Nissan red/yellow wire should cause dimming if the display is normally illuminated from the internal Pioneer wiring.

thanks for the help, im just going to try one and the other for the illumination wires and see which one works, that wont be a prob i guess...

but can any one verify the damn combo meter cable? does it just need a constant 12v? am i correct in just looping it back with the ignition on 12v wire?
and what the hell is it referring to as the combo meter? sorry if thats a question hehe....

Is the combo meter cable a Nissan or Pioneer cable. In Maxima terminology, the combo meter is the car's odometer and trip odometers LCD display. I read the Pioneer installation guide and I didn't see any reference to combo meter. Can you provide more info?

Im getting my info about the combo meter from here http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/audiowiring.asp
Its a wire from nissan's harness inside the car already, i've read up on everything and i know each wire from the radio, its just this one from the radio harness that im not sure about, im thinking its just illumination for the combo meter, it just seems odd that nissan would run it through the HU, guess they did that with the trip controls from the steering wheel also...
Thanks again

Ok i never herd of the combo meter. but i do know this all you need is power ground (not the ground thats in the nissan car side of the harness use a body ground)12v assy.you do not need to hook up the orange illum wire unless you want your new headunit to dim thru the dimmer switch in the dash.also your going to need to ground the bwn/wht wire on the small harness to get the odo and trip to work as well as the steering wheel buttons for them.

great, thanks for the replies... im not going to do anything with the combo meter wire, we'll see, if everything works fine then i'm good.
also i need to power the antenna, correct? the purple wire (ign on 12v) should suffice for that, or should i go with the hu's amp power on wire?

Are you using a metro harness or like or did you cut the car harness wires off?use the solid blue or blue white wire from your new headunit do not hook it to constant power.
