Anyone run Aftermarket Headers and Y pipe with a Stock cat back?
Anyone run Aftermarket Headers and Y pipe with a Stock cat back?
Just took my greddy exhaust off and put the stocker back on. Now I found out I have an exhaust leak in my flex pipe (Excuse to go aftermarket Y!). So i was just wondering if there are any downsides to doing this with my hotshot headers and stock catback. Is it gonna sound like crap? Any input is appreciated.

I had this set-up for years and years, netted me 233 in my AT with only intake and headers, nothing else.
The stock cat back can support up to 250fwhp on a Dynojet, so, that's pretty impressive IMO.

You may as well only put the stock axle back on. The stock b pipe is horrible where it is crimped to half of the pipe diameter right after the resonator. If you want the power and low noise then get the g35 sedan muffler. It has 2.5" inlet and will be very quiet.
I ran headers with no cat back for about 3-4 months. It sounds much better than stock(a little more throaty and robust) and the power gains are obvious.
I don't think you'll hurt anything, but the catback will free up an extra 5-15 HP(approx) depending on 2.5" or 3"(and tune) so expect a minor power loss.

I ran my Cattman headers with a HFC, Cattman 2.5" Bpipe and stock rear muffler and loved it....Kinda had a throaty mustang V8 sound and would gurgle and burble on throttle lift....Loved it and it was quiet as hell during all aspects of travel....
Or did I miss something?
I loved the sound of headers, the OEM cat, Cattman B-pipe and stock muffler.

I'm running headers, gutted cat, stock b pipe and cattman 2.5" muffler. It sounds awesome. I get compliments all the time about it. I know there is a ton of power left on the table that can be had from swapping out the stock b pipe. But as of right now, I'm not power hungry enough to warrant changing right now.
I have a clip but it was when I had a nasty intake manifold leak and exhaust leaks galore.

So I'm slightly lost.....Are you currently running a Header assy or Ypipe?

I currently have on hotshot headers, stock y, stock catback. I found out I have an exhaust leak in my flex pipe. I want to switch out the whole y pipe but wanted to know of any consequences or if it was gonna sound like **** with the stock catback. I do have a greddy catback sitting in my garage that I am debating on selling or welding in a resonator and putting it back on

So your headers look like these...

I'm assuming he has the eBay short headers...
