p0430 and p0420

OK not gonna ask what these mean dont worry. 2001 max ae. pulled a 0430 couple months ago planned on changing out precat. Light went out for a day now back on with 0420. Live in MA so have to do an inspection. I will replace pre-cat for p0430. The question lies in what to do with p0420. Can I run a cattman y-pipe and not pop the p420 or just get the aftermarket pre-cat for it?

P0420 - Pre-cat on bank 1 (closer to firewall)
P0430 - Pre-cat on bank 2 (closer to radiator)

well if you go with a cattman y pipe and headers your gonna have to trick it, either with the foulers or with the o2 sims.

Inefficient precats do NOTHING to harm your car unless they are literally breaking apart (which after talking to a nissan master tech, he has never seen one do that on a 2000+ maxima). If you want to do it "right" then spend several hundred dollars on replacing both precats and both secondary oxygen sensors.

I just dont want to have any problems getting an inspection. MA is terrible you cant change anything. So I can assume headers would be a bad idea? I have had problems inspecting pretty much every car i have owned and am quite tired of it. Are the headers a ***** to install? Have jackstands, but could possibly use a buddies lift in his garage if it is necessary. Also got rear ended a few years back so the cat back section is all brand new so not gonna replace that. Would it be worth it for headers seeing as the rear is not as free flowing?

you can use the antifoulers on the current secondary o2 sensors. People use this trick all the time when gutting the stock precats.
