New Exhaust just installed!!!

Well, I sold my Stock SE Exhaust to I believe a 4th genner. So in the meantime I had to get something to put in place of it till I save for a GREDDY system. So I bought this PowerTech Muffler with dual 4" tips. Straight through design and was a universal style muffler, so the installer just cut off the stock muffler and installed the new one and welded on some hangers. Cost me $30 on the install here in Birmingham.

All in all, sounds very DEEP and much like a GREDDY.

Here are some pics of it.

I also have a movie clip of it so you can hear the sound of it.

http://www.geocities.com/dsuthar/exhaust Then click on the revving.mpg file.

Lots of smoke, what gives?

Also, I have a feeling that you might keep this muffler and just slap on a cat and B pipe!

Thanks 2k2wannabe, I Hate geocities, they keep changing their polices and what you can link and what you cant.

Telus.net, I dont know if I will keep this muffler, cause the guy who installed it still had to install this small pipe when he cut the original muffler off from the bpipe. So he made some bends on it. When using a muffler bending machine, it litterally bends them no different then the way your stock bpipe and ypipes were bent. That is why most people go for the Ypipe because of the Mandrel bends which are not bend on a machine like this, it maintains the interior surface area of the circumference even in a bend.

So that is why I would still want to go GREDDY, even though this bastard looks nice and the sound is just awesome. Wait till I get my Ypipe.

NAUMAN, this guy who did the install, he is REALLY pushing me to make it louder, he said for $20 he will remove the stock resonator and put a straight pipe in place, but then I think it will be TOO lound to the point I cant drive it on long trips and also might get a noise polution ticket.

man, if you plan on getting the y-pipe, I say don't do it.... ask him how much a mandrel bent b-pipe would be.... that would be nice

Nope, I dont think he does madrel bends, cause they use that standard muffler pipe bender machine, them machine dont maintain that surface area on the bends. Arnt mandrel bends hard to do straight in a shop?

They usually have a special machine to do mandrel bends. But anyhow,I know a shop up here in MD that does custom exhausts and they do mandrel bent pipes. If you like the muffler, look into getting a custom b-pipe with a small resonator on it to cut down on some of the noise when you get the y-pipe

Calm down RBa, give me a break, I aint got $500 yet to spend on a Greddy. But soon enough I will. It does sound like it with the deep throaty voice. But yes I understand it will never be a Greddy.

Nauman, let me know of that shop in MD, I will back in town Sunday, and I am going to look into that. I definetely want to get the Bpipe redone.

When I had my HKS, the 3" tips were more than enough. I may just cut off the stock SE tips and have some Borla CF tips put on...still debating

Yeap that and a Straight Pipe. Straight pipe and Ypipe hopefully coming next week.

The muffler sound I got now sort of disappears after 3k rpms. But very very noticeable from 1500-3000

any modification to your exhaust system is illegal now(well, at least in california...yeah people...we've been thru this before, so don't make such a big deal out of this, ok?)...
since exhaust modification is banned all together, the larger the tip, the more likely you'll get pulled over..cuz it just stands out.

Well I hope you like it REAL LOUD because when I had the Y-pipe,B pipe w/out resonator and a straight thru muffler it sounded like thunder. I mean if you stood next to my car and I revved it you would feel the floor vibrate.
It was so bad I had to go and get a BIG (4" casing 36" long) resonator put in and then it was bearable. Now I reinstalled my factory muffler but retained the y-pipe and b pipe and its perfect for me.

Bottlefedmax,

Question I got is that I reall want to keep this muffler and will get a shop to make me mandrel bends on the bpipe. But The resonator is the problem in the sense that the pipe coming out of the resonator litterally is "crushed" to put on a hanger. This is how it came stock, that is like a 50% air blockage. Now there seems no way to retain the stock resonator because that stock "crushed" bend is 1" from the end of the resonator.

I would need a custom resontator. Plus I am getting a Testpipe next week and possibly a Ypipe the same time.
