No Power

My mother drives a 2000 GLE and she went outside to crank the car and nothing happened. That is when i was called over to take a peek. first thing I noticed was a POSITIVE replacement clamp UPSIDE DOWN courtesy of my older brother. Upon further inspection I noticed it was cracked.
I replaced it all and re attached the terminals. The battery is brand new so it is not lacking juice. Could someone help me out as to what else I may need to look for (pics and instructions greatly appreciated). My mom is retired and needs her car so ay help I can get to keep her rolling is definitely appreciated.

There is a lot of basic simple things you need to do.

A. Are the interior lights coming on?
B. Have you even tested the battery?
C. Have you jump the starter directly to see if it turns over
D. Check the grounds.
E.... I can go ALL day on simple 5 minute checks that will answer your solution....
