feel your pain

my 00max was wrecked (t-boned) 8 months ago by an elderly man who dozed off and ran a red light. here is some eye-candy:

http://jaudesign.com/automess/

the car was less than a year old at the time (3 days before anniversary) and to say the least, the experience was heart-wrenching. but you know, soon you'll realize what we say here is true--in the end it's not really about the car, it's about you walking away from it in one piece. like you, i walked away, and that blessing gave me a chance this winter to trade in that wreck for a sweet new 02max se, majestic blue auto. the cost for the repairs on the older max amounted close to 13k, and was not totalled (damn allstate).

glad that you came out well.

p.s., here are some pix of my car; just "zaino-ed", a wax i have relied on for the last 2 years:

http://jaudesign.com/misc/max02/

sorry for the long post. i don't have time to be able to post often but this has been a great forum since i've visited a few years ago.

Re: RIP Accord V6 :-(

That sucks. The crap you'll have to go through to get things back to normal is the biggest pain.

Glad the Honda protected you & you were able to walk away. Hope there are no other complications.

Hey Steve, looking from the damages and its quite a bit, I'd say around $35,000 to fix, your car is definitely going to be totalled out. So keep in mind what you want to buy. And definitely go see a doctor, because you are entitled to one. Open a Bodily Injury claim against the bastard that rear ended you and you can be compensated for your lost wages and "pain and suffering". Your insurance company will probably cut you a check as soon as they take a look at the vehicle and fill out a vehicle valuation report and determine the actual cash value of your accord on your local market. If you are loaning for the vehicle, they will issue you a check with your name and the lienholder's title on there as well. Good luck

I'd love to get a Maxima, but I don't fit in one worth a darn. I fit great in an Altima though

How do you like yours? Please PM me

How big are you that you don't fit in one. I'm 6' 6" and I fit in it. Just wondering.

Steve I heard about your accident on the radio yesterday. I hope you don't have delayed injuries. Sometimes neck and back injuries take a few days to kick in. It happened to my parents.

Boston has the worst drivers on earth! I went to school in Providence and traveled to Boston frequently. People use the right shoulder to pass in the MA/Boston area. Some of the craziest drivers on earth. DC Metro isn't too impressive either though.

Sorry to hear about the wreck. But the main thing is that you are fine. That's more important.

BTW, in IL, the van driver would have been cited for "Failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident."

Sorry to hear about your car.

Its good that you are ok and the Honda Engineers did a pretty good job on the car's design.

Well, this gives you a better reason to buy a 2k2 max!

Wow...you know, I was about to make some random comment about Vaporware since you guys have been spouting rumors about the 6-speed CL-S for a year. However, what do you know, 1/4/2002 it is official. I guess you might actually be a challenge once the '03 comes out.

Sorry bro. Be VERY happy you were not hurt. Your insurance company can always replace the car.

Maryland drivers beware

Damn, glad you're OK Steve. I just got rear ended on Montrose a couple of days ago. I think I saw the traffic snarl that ensued after your wreck. Looks like everyone in this area is getting hit.
First Paul, then Naumann, then Me, now you. Gotta really lookout around here. Hope there's no one else soon. My offending driver wasn't paying attention either.

Looks like you got it a lot worse though.

Now the only question is what will Steve get next?

Suburu WRX STI?
Altima 3.5 SE?
Maxima SE 6-spd HLSD?
Acura TL-S (I hear soon to get 6-spd)?
Infinti G35? (check it out)
Mitsu Lancer EVO VIII (rumored to be here in the summer)?
or Maybe 2003 Maxima (I hear its larger, maybe you will fit)?

Make the insurance company pay for the car of your choice.

Hope everything works out.

Thanks so much for all of the replies, advice, and well-wishes so far. It really does mean a lot

I'll follow up more later, but I'm heading out of town right now to visit the gf/fiance for the weekend. There also just happens to be an auto show in Philadelphia this weekend (how convenient) so I'll be going to that to check out some cars

Went to the doc's last night. He says I'm going to live :-D Got my right knee, which is pretty bruised up, x-rayed and there's no fractures or anything. Got some painkiller perscriptions and he sent me on my way.

So that's that. No call from the adjuster yet - I guess they really are backed up

Glad you're alright steve! The accord is a safe car, glad you werent hurt. Do you have any neck injuries? tingling ? have a CT scan done? If its all good from the doc, its time to visit a chiropractor if you havent already, just to work out the kinks from all that shock you took.

Steve, I never thought I'd be replying to one of your posts on Maxima.org. I'm sorry to hear that your 6th gen got totalled. (I remember how enthusiastic you were right before you got it and then how happy you were when you finally took delivery.) Most importantly, I'm glad to see you're OK. (God is merciful!!)

I see lots of encouragement for you to jump into a Maxima. (Heck! I guess we ARE on a Maxima board.) But you gotta consider upgrading to an Acura 3.2 TL Type S (a.k.a. THE TL-S) It's two steps up in the Honda Accord progression. (Here in Jersey, the current TL-S with sequential shift is going for $29k!! With GPS!!) And if you wait a little longer, you're looking at an available 6-speed tranny. (That's got to run low 14s and topout close to 160mph, although it might be governed at the current TL-S topend of 150mph)

Hang in there bro. Email me sometime.
