Shifter **** Moving Around While Driving Normal??

car - 2003 Maxima 6 Speed Manual HLSD

when im driving and taking off i feel the shifter **** moving around, like when i engage the clutch the shift **** moves back in any gear it physically moves like half an inch front to back only movement only, no side to side. even when im slowing down if im in gear the shifter **** is rocking back and forth. it does not effect switching gears, it works perfect. it just rocks back and forth all day long.

in order to solve this problem i replaced front and rear mounts with ES torque mounts http://www.partsgeek.com/assets/perf/full/1235701.pdf

i replaced drivers side mount with a beck arnley mount and i replaced the transmission (driver side) mount with a OEM nissan mount straight from the dealer cause i couldn't find it anywhere else.

i also replaced the shifter cable and linkage bushings from Energy Suspension aswell, cause the forum recommended it http://www.partsgeek.com/assets/perf/full/1235703.pdf

i still have this problem, and after all these new parts, it is still EXACTLY the same as day one. please help, this is so weirddd.

It's been a few years since I have owned a manual, but every manual tranny vehicle I have ever owned or driven, the shifter moves when you accelerate/decelerate. I'd say it's normal.

I'm going to bump this thread because I'm having the same issue in my 5MT in 3rd, 4th, and 5th. But, my movement is a little more than his. Now, I could care less about the movement. the problem is, IF AND ONLY I go to redline in 2nd gear...and I shift to 3rd...it will grind.

Under normal driving conditions, 3rd will not grind. Even, at 4-5K RPM...smooth shift.

I have 3 poly mounts, and about to replace my tranny mount sunday. My shifter linkage is kind of wobbly but I believe there should be some play in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been plagued with this problem for months now. The tranny was rebuilt about a year ago with fresh synchros
