That's what I was expecting, too. Better turning radius, RWD, etc. But no... merovi had the best time, followed by Tuner, and then me another 0.3 seconds after Tuner. merovi has a significant number of suspension mods, including those Tein coilovers on the most stiff setting. And as it turns out, he's one heck of a driver.

All of our laps kept getting better and better with each run. But it wasn't until my 6th run that I got brave enough to turn off traction control and actually got my best run in. And without the traction control, I got to slide around the track like Jeremy Clarkson.

We'll see after a while. spock was taking pictures with Tuner's fancy new DSLR, and I have no idea what they look like. It happened, T_Behr. Took some planning, but it finally came together and we had a blast.

And last night, in between beers, Tuner put some white LED's in my back-up lights... so now I've got that going for me, LOL.

If there are any good ones, I'm sure one of us will post a few here in the next couple days.

Right about now, I'm thinking sleep. Long weekend between the meet-up and the track. Good times, though. Glad it happened.

makes sense.

IIRC tuner has some pretty wide rubber on his car, that would also come into play and if he has aftermarket suspension. A stock G37 despite how great it is will not be able to keep up with a lightly modded G35.

The maxima really is down to the driver, with the VQ35 useless amount of torque coming out of tight corners and its rear suspension being set up for straight line stability not corner carving.

Definitely in for pics! Did merovi let you get a run in with your old Maxima or did you drive the G the whole time?

Makes me wonder about aackshun and his setup because he said he has a car that oversteers.....4th and 5th gens dont oversteer they understeer. Something is wrong there. The rear beam is setup with a slight toe-in. That can be good on multi-link RWD car, on a FWD sedan.....

Its either one of these 2 things or a combination of both. He is running very hard rear springs, or stupid high rear tire pressure. While it may seem great you got oversteer, effectively you are slowing the car down especially with high tire pressure. That just gets rid of all traction in the rear.

Unless he has done the beam bend and we dont know about it......

Or he has his rear sway bar set up tighter than a tick's azz...

It's not that hard to make a front drive car oversteer. My old Audi used to do that if I pitched it hard into a tight turn and lift the throttle. I'd have that bish at full opposite lock, and then mash down the gas to pull out of it once I got past the apex of the turn. And that was with the factory suspension.

I used to get my SVT Focus to do the same thing. It's actually quite controllable once you get the hang of doing it.

Most cars have lift off oversteer thats not an issue.

Well I'm hoping this one holds the 100 shot of spray, it shouldn't be an issue.

The shoes might work. But she's actually a Florida state certified licensed nail tech so she does all that herself. She also does hair and make up too. But nails are her thing.

They are kinda messy because she did these on herself with one hand. But you get the point.

Ahhh thats right. I forgot that he had the Teins now. I was just factoring in the other suspension mods you had already done. The Teins were the final missing link to that setup. Makes perfect sense now. That, plus a torquey VQ35 that puts gobs of power down regardless of rpm coupled with a good driver makes a world of a difference.

If it holds the 100 shot, the tranny is the next thing to go. Most likely 3rd. Atleast that's what we experience most down here.

It should. I have a friend with a boosted 4th gen putting down that and it's holding up fine. I don't recall what clutch he has, thou.

Not saying in can't. But don't be surprised if it let's go one day. Quick shifts in the meat of the power band tends to "shock" the gears sometimes.

good luck.

after all this time and hopla about the 3.0 you are trying to go 3.5? b1tch. You best pull that 3.0 and install some VH45 pistons, up that damn compression:

https://maxima.org/forums/all-motor/...ion-ratio.html

Get to work b1tch.

Slightly surprising, but not THAT unexpected. Arcing the car on entry & turn in at the apex is important. Despite criticisms, I find the Max (even unmodded) does it well under deceleration & w/maybe a bit of trail braking. Plus the car will stick when driven smoothly. It's not really about under vs. over steer but balance & car control. Which is actually the most important thing to go fast, regardless of car or track. It may look cool to be all crossed up drifting w/tire smoke, but it's not the quickest way. BTW; What was the time differential between all 3 cars, I don't think you mentioned that?
