You just made Hustler's day. He's jumping up and down now saying, "See that? It is so OK for me to hate people for being born different than me! Even nelledge says so."

Defending the indefensible is a fun hobby, but hardly a philosophy... unless you're a lawyer.

Oooooo... Three responses?!? I must have struck a chord.

Anyway, everyone has dislikes. Would you want a Bible-thumper living next door to you? I have a feeling you would do anything you could to prevent that if you had any say at all.

To my knowledge, the guy never said anything about "hating" anyone. Yet, you have used those words several times in describing his commentary. A lie is a lie, John. At least have the integrity to quote him correctly.

The quote making the rounds today...

"God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to try to redefine what marriage is about."

Or, better said...

"God's mercy on people with such prideful, arrogant attitude to think that they have the audacity to try and speak for God to rationalize their intolerance."

Yeah, that would suck. No, Snip snip was at the hospital after birth. 13 was... Confirmation, I believe. First Communion was around age 7.

So many rituals. So little meaning to the people acting them out.

Who said anything about teenage circumcision? Weirdo.

I couldn't care less about who someone else marries, or who they pray to, as long as they don't try to push their beliefs on me. Like the Christians who believe their way is the only way to the eternal.

exactly and the same should apply for non believers... now if the dude said i hate gays, gays shouldnt eat at my restaurant because of his beliefs then o.k thats discrimination but the man is being killed for his beliefs... IMO thats a form of bullying

mind if i ask you where did the whole marriage terminology or practise came from??? wasnt that from religion??? or was that a random guy who said this seem like the right thing to do???...

for a country who seems to be so anti christ i wonder why the "in god we trust" slogan still stand... im gonna predict withing the next 3-5 terms of presidency that we will also have our 1st gay president (not saying a gay person cant run the country, as people get all sensitive to everything gay and take offense)

Christianity was founded several hundred years before Islam. That is one of the main reasons Muhammad was not and could not be a prophet of God, because he was not a born-again believer of Christ, and this makes all of his prophecies out of line with the rest of the Bible old and new totally making Muhammad a false prophet. But whatever...

What country is it you're talking about? Certainly not the USA? Christians pretending they're persecuted here in America. LOL

Between a religious "belief" about what people *can't* do, and a personal philosophy about what they *can* do... I'll take the latter every day. Keep your pious Christianity to yourself. The world is a better place without it.

Most of us here that have discussed religion in one form or another have mentioned our denominations. However, i don't recall you ever bringing up what denomination you are.

That's complete and utter nonsense. The US is the most religious industrialized country on the planet, and over 3/4 of Americans are Christians. I don't make that stuff up.

Anti-christ my azz. And yet Christians have this persecution complex.

im glad you noticed that lol... i dont like to say i belong to anybody because i like to stay as unbiased as i can, but if i was to say what i practiced most is christianity (pentecost to be exact) but to be honest i have my personal faults with most of them (not religion itself but the denominations)

Yes, yes... I wasn't listening, that's not what you meant. Heard all that before, Hustler. You're never wrong... nobody understands you... blah blah blah.

You STFU for a change. You talk so much you don't know how to think.

You're in fine winey-baby mode again tonight.

Hrm.

Interesting, Rochester is riled up somewhat over something, furthermore, riled up and actually arguing with Ghustle in more than a playful manner

The only way to not care what people believe is to not care about it.

People say this all the time, I don't care, it doesn't matter, etc. But the very act of saying it means you do care, even if it's only enough that you want people to know it doesn't keep you up at night, but that is still a measure of caring.

I feel that religion is the cause for a lot of the hate and war in this world.
I also feel that religion is not only necessary, but does more good than it does harm.
I do not believe that there is a God in the terms of the Bible, I think that's a load of crap. I DO believe in FAITH in God, and I truly envy those who are able to embrace a heartfelt belief in God, or whomever.

basic cliffs on what im saying....

one minute people dont care not realizing that just your deep expression for not caring is a form of caring... but you hit the nail on the head tuner, nobody here is saying you have to believe or else we will discriminate... im simply saying i have the right to believe and whoever has the right not to believe and just leave it at that... but when you take the rights and accomplishments for believing or not believing is where you are caring too much and quite frankly that in itself is discrimination...

What I have a problem with, and what I think Rochester is attempting to say (not sure on this one), is when people try to impose beliefs on others.
That **** isn't right, THAT is a problem, and THAT I'm firmly against.

ie. You believe in god, you keep that **** to yourself, you believe in Gay marraige, keep that **** to yourself, you belive in flying elephants, keep that **** to yourself, and so on.

Publicly professing your beliefs is o.k. to a certain degree, but when it's done by a public figure, or repeatedly in a way that is meant to Preach or otherwise impose those personal beliefs on others, it's wrong, IMO. When I have to hear about it, and can't choose to ignore it without it popping back in my face again and again, that's imposition, and I don't like that.
