5th gen Off Topic Thread (Official Ghustle thread v1)
Gentleman, I need some opinions. Were i'm at right now, I could have an 03 G sedan within a month, OR if i were to wait a until end of next summer, I could purchase an 07 G35 Sedan. I really need some inputs. Neither will be kept stock, But I could have the 03 on rims and tires, full exhaust, and possible a super by next summer, or have a stock 07. Just looking for some feedback.
Personally, I look at it this way. Let's say your car budget is 25,000. You spend 8,000 on the car, that's potential for 17,000 in upgrades to max the budget (not a good idea, but you get the idea).
Or you spend 25,000 on the car.
This is the viewpoint I ran with when I got my 03 g35 for $7000. I can do a lot of maintenance, paint, tuning, etc to this car and still be well under the $30,000 mark, and end up with a car that is signifigantly better than any $30,000 car you could buy.
THEN AGAIN, if resale is important to you, don't hesitate, buy the 07. My purchase was a long-*** term purchase, I willr un this car into the ground, then pick it up off the ground, clean it up and run it again for anothe rround, yaaamean?
That's a very hard decision. You need to test drive the 07 more. Rochesters input here is valuable, he may PM you some pet peeves or whatever to keep in mind after having owned it for a bit longer.

The "Lifetime Oil Changes" promotion from our Honda Dealership was a scam. Now that the car is out of warranty, they will only change the oil if I agree to hundreds upon hundreds of dollars of unnecessary "scheduled service".
It's a scam. They are the Devil, and I hate them.
So I'm going to have to start changing the oil on the wife's CR-V, like I do on my G37. Which is no big deal, I suppose. Here's Teh Funny... it took me 10 minutes to find the hood latch. And in actuality, I had to get out the owner's manual. The release switch is recessed and on the side panel under the driver's side. Very stealth.
OMG, her engine bay is disgustingly dirty. And before anyone suggests... no, I'm not going to clean it. Nor am I going to put titanium bits and pieces inside her Honda.
Still, it could use a good cleaning.

I find this difficult to comprehend...

The only times i've bought cars at a dealership is when I used to work for one. Even then they try to screw you.
One car I bought was supposed to have gap coverage. When it was totaled, the paperwork they kept on file mysteriously didn't exist, even thou I clearly remember signing something for gap coverage because gap was the first thing I asked about. Of course the finance manager that did all of that didn't work there anymore so there was no way to trace a paper trail down. Good thing I actually got a good deal on the car or I could have had to have coughed up a few thousand dollars to pay for the gap between the value on the car and what was owed to the bank.

What can I say? The Honda isn't a hobby, it's just a tool.
I get that, T_Behr. But it's true. It's was bought brand new 4 years ago as the family car, with full warranty and full service (or so I thought). It's never given us a single reason for repair, and we brought it in for regular service. I've kept it clean all these years... relatively speaking to other CR-V's, certainly not relatively speaking to my Maxima or my G37. But it's in fine shape.

I'm just surprised that you had that much faith and trust in your stealership with your $25ish thousand dollar tool that you didn't inspect it yourself, considering how particular you are with your own cars.
To sum it all up, your wife and kids ride in that car. And you take road trips in it. That's a lot of faith and trust to put into a stealership regarding it is your family's transportation, especially when their safety is concerned.
To sum it all up, inspect your tool.
I know that. They are probably the only set of 16s is get.
For that price, I'd rock them all day. Lol. I think I know the seller of that listing by the way.
I like the hiros too but I always pass on those because of the weight.
The leonis are nice too. Width and offset is lacking but might work.
I wanna pull the trigger on those bbs as some permanent wheels, but I'd need some fat spacers.

F*** NO. I see an 03 G Sedan 6MT pop up today, 58500 miles, no accidents, etc. asking 9800$ By the time i see this ad, go do a few errands and i just called the dealer to basically purchase the car (There is NO 6MT's on the west coast, PERIOD.) It sold. It was listed for less than 6 hours. FUUUUUUUUUU

They did some body work on separate occasions for manufacturer defects, and both times when I went to get the car I had to bring the Service Manager out to show him where they fcked up, and gave the car back to get repaired correctly. On one occasion, I gave it back to them twice. Seriously... twice.
So, there's no full faith and trust, per se.
Boy this Usain Bolt guy sure is a tool in the spotlight. I feel bad for Jamaica having this peacock rep for their country lately.
Closing ceremonies last night were... kind of a mess. I'm hoping Rio will be more like Carnaval. Get ready for the Sexy Olympics, LOL!
