Car battery was installed on wrong

Hi Guys,

My GLE 2000 Maxima which I now gave to my dad no longer starts (No power). A few months back he told me that the battery seems to be dead so I went over and gave it a boost and sure enough it started. Took the battery in and it was dead completely. I got a new battery under warranty, hooked it up and he was fine for a few months. Car was than parked for about month as it’s his spare car now.

Just last week as I was out of town, he went to start the car and sure enough it didn't start. He gave himself a boost and it started up just fine. I advised my dad to bring the battery back to Part Source to have them test it. The result came back dead and battery cannot be charged and needs replacement. The counter clerk indicated there is something wrong with the car as this is not normal back to back batteries. He got a new battery but this time after hooking it up it didn't start. I went over to check it out and my dad by mistake hooked up the battery in reverse, so now the car won’t even start with a boost. He mentioned he saw sparks when he hooked up the cables to the battery.

Issue is:
1) Car battery is draining like crazy, what can be the issue
2) Car will no longer start with new battery. There is no power going to the car. Can this be a fuse issue?

Thanks All

check the fuse next to the positive cable on the battery, its a 120amp fuse square size, that will be first, we can get to the battery draining later on, lets start it up first

blown fuse most likely but the other issue could be a parasitic drain on the battery from something not sure what though

Harbor freight has a great device where you remove each individual fuse and test that circuit for a short. Won't say if there is a slow parasitic drain, but it's a cheap test and often a short causes a drain.

Of course, going to have to get the power back on.
