Wierd AC issue

Wierd AC issue
This one is kinda perplexing (for me anyway)...
I have an 02 with Auto Climate Control. Problem started today. I get in the car and start it, turn on the AC, then set it to 60. The auto climate control comes on like it normally does, shows the fan going full speed. Problem is, that the fan isn't blowing at all. I know that the compressor is working, because of all the condensation puddling under it. Now here is the wierd part. I open the driver door and close it pretty firmly, and the fan motor comes to life and blows full force. Then when I shut the car off, and turn it back on, same problem all over again. I am thinking that it has to be some sort of relay, but not sure. Anybody ever had a similar problem or have any advice? Thanks!

You have a pretty good chance that your blower motor has sticking brushes inside it. Slamming the passenger door shakes the car and the blower motor is right next to the door. Next time the fan doesn't work, tap on it and see if that makes it spin.

Thanks for the tip! If that does turn out to be the problem, how do I clean the brushes? As of today, the fan will not come on no matter how hard I slam the door. Do you think the brushes might still be the problem?

Take out the glove box so you can get to the motor. Remove it, then see if you can start it by hand/test to see if it has power. If it works, then replace the motor. 4th gen motors fit (cheaper).
There's how-tos around. It's very easy.

DennisMik,
You were right! Got to the motor, and tapped the back and she sprung to life. Thanks so much for that suggestion!!! Looks like I need to get the brushes cleaned up. Whats the best way to do that?
