Seafoam Cleaning
#41
Did the Seafoam treatment this weekend. Went to Home Depot and bought a 1/4" x 10Ft of PVC hose for a little over $2, connected it to the intact manifold port that Rochester posted and was able to keep the car running while sitting in the driver's seat and feeding seafoam into the car. When almost 1/2 can was being slowly sucked in, I put the hose fully into the can and let the engine suck on seafoam until it stalled. I then let it sit for 30 minutes to soak in the engine.
Man, when I took the car out for the clean-out run, I produced a crazy amount of smoke. Neighbors would stop in their tracks when I was trying to get out of the neighborhood.

Great stuff tho.

Much easier than the brake booster line, eh? Glad someone else tried it.

While the smoking was going on and I was hammering the car onto the highway, the pinging seemed worse and then went away when the smoke diminished.
After driving it a bit, my idle does seem smoother and the pinging has been reduced, but still there. I may do it again in another month or so.
Right now, I am running a tank of Lucas fuel system cleaner + Sunoco 93 Octane so I want to see if that helps at all.

I was under the impression that the purpose of the seafoam was to clean out the carbon build-up on the valve heads, but you know... there's so much I don't know, LOL.
