2002 maxima se 6 speed blown transmission

my passenger side axle seal leaked half of my transmission fluid and i guess blew the transmission. what years transmission can i use. I thought i read that all maxima 6 speeds are the same (2002 -2006) but can not find that information again. is this a common problem or am i a first. car has 153,500 miles. also the clutch is rumored to be less than a year old. can i reuse it

02-06 6speeds will all work. If the clutch is only a year old then it should be in good condition and you can reuse. Although this might be a good time to upgrade clutch and flywheel.

Im guessing whoever replaced your clutch is to blame for the axle leaking your tranny fluid. How do you know its blown?

Put the axle back in, tighten it up good, fill the tranny back up and give it a go.

my mechanic filled the transmission with fluid anyways ( over 1.5 quarts low ) and tried it and it was just as bad no difference i guess.

basically i was having some high pitch gear whine while going down down the highway for a couple weeks as well as some chattering when starting off from a stop( which i learned is probably my flywheel. i was meaning to check the oil but never had the chance to get it up on the lift. then i shut off my radio and it sounded bad. i had the car towed it was so bad. as soon as the transmission spins it just makes a horrible grinding crunching sound. if you put the transmission in nuetral when going down a hill and push the clutch in it stops. my mechanic usually does whatver he thinks is the cheapest so hopefully he is right. i arleady found a 2006 transmission for 750. if the old one turns out to be good somehow ill just sell the old one. i still think it might be my throwout bearing.

Does it make that noise when driving with the clutch in? If it only does it with the clutch out, it is definitely the TOB. Or it could be that the axle is about to pop out. Did your mechanic tighten back up the axle?

Might as well upgrade and look for an HLSD transmission.

Just as an update i bought a 2002 6 speed non lsd for a steal at 360 bucks. it has 115000 on it. i had it put in for another 300. my clicking noise is gone but i do still have a little vibration but i think my engine might be running a tiny bit rough. i only think this because at idle if you put you head right at the exhaust it doesn't sound smooth or at least as smooth as other cars. has kind of a popping sound. i might do plugs and wires as well as rear valve cover and see what that does. i say rear valve cover because my max burns oil like crazy and im hoping its because of the clogged pcv valve problem
