temper temper Mr . I have respect for all max owners, I just dont like when those who drive auto are saying that they're only .2 slower than manual. No, you're much slower than that. And I paid for my 5 spd less than you for your auto. So why don't you kiss my behind.

Yeah, this shows you have a lot of respect for your fellow Max owners. 95% of them, literally. Wow, and you paid less. Did it not occur to you that not everyone bought their car specifically for racing? Or that maybe personal preference would dictate that they get an auto because they already can't stand the way other retards drive? You talk about autos like they're completely worthless because they're a second behind you. If you were referring to the .2 sec. comment of a single owner, then address him, not ALL auto owners.

What's with the ignorance?

not to continue (or start) flames but would a 2k2auto (stock) be comparable to a 2k1 5sp.?--traffic and food make up a large portion of my life, that's why I have an auto

Y2KMAXGXE-R:
i think the temper rises when you personally dis someone who just spent $25k on a car simply b/c you don't like the type of transmission they have

"too much stuff no one needs on the performance of 5th gen autos"

performance depends on the owner's needs, i NEED my max to shift for me (not b/c i don't know how but) b/c i spend 99% of my time in my max in traffic or eating or both--speaking of 'too much stuff no one needs on the performance...' i don't NEED a tranny that i have to shift, so in a sense, your 5th gen 5sp. has something I (performance-wise) "don't need"

BTW i wasn't offended by anything you wrote i just wanted to clear that up in an attempt to avoid future flames--there's no need to kick someone out of a forum/discussion b/c of the type of tranny they prefer, oh and nc00max:"blow me and my auto", come on, i'm sure you can think of something more intellegent to say

this automagic's "sorry behind"(another intellegent remark) is outta here i hope someone was enlightened

Yes, that's true, I could've been a lot more tactful but chose not to. I was fairly offended at the "sorry behind" remark, as well as being told to leave a thread because of my transmission of all things. I suppose for the time being I'll try and keep my remarks a little more on the calmer, intellectual side rather than letting the sailor come out in me. Oh wait, I am a sailor.

I have an auto and quite happy about it but still not as fast as the manual, but hey, who care, I know how to drive a car in many situation. I am wondering if an auto with S/C can do better than 6.1 sec ??? I believe I did like 7.8 but with my b*tt dyno, does this count ?

I though of sharing this info with you guys....

I saw an article in a sport car magazine they claim that a Tiburon with an automagic did a 10.6 on the 1/4, euh... faster than Ferrari Modano 360...and everything that I know. I also read that a Viper with over 850 HP did a 0-100 in 2 sec, that's a bit faster than our car.

Cheers

AA

Everyone quit b!tchin' about your focking transmission. 95% of people bought auto maxima's becuase they wanted a QUICK sedan that was unique rather than just another accord. They don't plan to race, and they use the Maxi's for everyday driving and don't wanna **** with stick.

If I wanted a car PURELY for speed I would have gotten a Cobra, Lightning, supra or 300zx TT, or somethin along those lines.

Sheesh.

Your car has a rev limeter just like every other 3-5th gen maxima ever made{probably 1st and 2gen too}..

I know you guy's are talking about 2000-2001 but a 5spd 95 max is pretty comparible time wise. With a Stillen:Intake, CatBack, Aluminum flywheel, RT cat, PPC headers/ Y-Pipe, UR UDP and no spare and about 3 gallons of gas I did 0-60 = 5.98 Seconds. I use to average about 6.1 for 0-60{with gas and spare}.

That is on G-Tech right ? I hear tracks don't measure 0-60. That blows.

Anywhoo here is the basic brake down IMHO:

Auto: 95-99 own 2000-2001

Manual: 95-96' own all ('cept 2k2 and Russ of course)

Manual: 97-99 & 2000-2001 are very close

Emax, you still own your '95 ? I can't believe it is as fast as your 2k2, that is awesome. Too bad it won't be after you bolt sommore 'ish on.

Anyways, are you plannin' on selling it? What about your headers?

Yeah, my 95 is almost as quick as my 02 but not quite. My 02 consitently hit's 5.75-5.85 0-60 and on a roll it pulls a bit stronger. With out my intake the two were with in a few hundreths of each other in 0-60.BTW, all my times are from my G-tech on the exact same part of the streat.

Sooner or later I am going to sell my 95, I am just really lazy and it's a pain in the **** trying to sell a car + the resale on it is so $hitty it is depresing having to sell it for so damn cheap. I have a cracked winshield and I need to get a new tail light{clears went bad} and then I will put it up for sale I guess.

I thought we were talking "stock" only. Of course, you can beat any stock 5th gen with your $2500 worth of mods. What would happen if you spend the same amt. on 5th gen..Ask 2KevSe (he may be auto-not sure)

My 95 can't beat any "stock" 5th gen, my 2002 was quicker stock I will let you know what happens when I spend $2,500 on my 02, I am willing to bet my 02 will still be faster then my 95..

Automatics can actually shift faster than most humans can push in the clutch and select a gear.

The trannys are heavier, and less efficient becuase of the needed torque converter.

Some other huge reasons in the case with a max is the shifts aren't that aggresive, or postive, the gearing is also very tall. If you could shorten first and second gear by a at least .75 to 1.00 each the car might or even be able to rip off mid 6's to 60mph.

BTW, the difference between a stick and auto trans is always more than .2 or .3 unless you are driving a 540i auto or a Porsche. Those German autos are very aggressive and can hold their own with a manual. Most autos are rated at about a second slower than a manual. Remember, the auto is less efficient and weights more.

Just my .02.
