Radio Display

Well i recently got my 5.5 gen Maxima and did some body work to it due to the fact that i was rear ended with it. While i had it in the body shop i had the Stillen front and rear lip added to give it a better look. My next idea was to do the fog light rewire to the park lights. That came out looking really nice. The next thing i wanted to do was upgrade my audio. My car didn't come with the Bose system so i bought 4 Rockford Fosgate Primes to swap out into the door and an Amp Interface Kit to add a amp for some subs. For now im using the factory head unit but plan to upgrade to a double din. So today i ran all my wires to the trunk and connected my subs, rcas, all the correct wires. everything works fine but i found when i turn the headlights to the on position the display on the Radio goes away. Once the headlights are switched off the display comes back. I tried turning the headlight to the on position and play with the dimmer switch but nothing happened. What could it possibly be?

You probably need to disconnect the illumination dimmer wire. I'm not 100% sure since I'm rocking a factory radio, but that is where I would start.

Correct. Disconnect the negative dimmer wire (orange with black stripe). Make sure the illumination wire (solid orange) remains connect.

Jeez - nice catch.

Something was messed with behind the radio. Need to know exactly what was done - more specific than "RCA's and correct wires."

I fixed the problem. The harness i bought was missing one end of the dimmer switch wire. All i did was tap into the Dimmer Switch wire from the factory harness and connected it to the orange and black wire on the aftermarket harness.
