prob burnt out sludge and it allows it to be lubricated better. start using synthetic oil, always keep an eye on it. timing chain is never cheap.. $1000 minimum for us 5th gen guys

hmmm never thought about that, sounds possible, thanks!!!, i mean i did seafoam my engine by sucking the seafoam into my cylinders via the brake booster hose, idk ima keep an eye out but about the oil, i herd its not good to use synthetic on oil motors, im accually about to experiment using part synthetic, so ill let you know how that goes

Synthetic oil is okay to use, but its pure, and can clean away dirt in the engine that is blocking what could be a potential leak. If your going to use synthetic, its best to use it from day one, or when the km's are still low. Why are you going to a semi-synthetic?

I bought my car with 120,000 miles on it. I have no idea what was used before me but I've been using Mobile One pure synthetic extended life since then. I now have 151,000 miles and the engine doesn't leak a drop and as far as I can tell has near zero oil consumption. From what I hear on this forum that's a rare thing though.

Also (and this is second hand so don't quote me), it does no good to use a synthetic blend. Synthetic is designed to not break down as fast under the conditions that break down conventional oil (heat, moisture, air). When mixed with conventional oil the conventional oil in the blend breaks down just as fast as it would on its own, thus contaminating the synthetic that you paid a premium for. It doesn't hurt but it doesn't help either and is just a waste of money. I'd go full synthetic or stay with conventional. Don't waste money on "blends".

im using castrol GTX because i heard its one of the best for my engine but i also use lucas oil stabilizer mixed in, i mean what your saying does make sense but i never leave my oil in for more then 2500, so maybe i should just stick to conventional, i just wanted to try the syn blend to see how it works

There's nothing wrong with Castrol GTX. I'm not saying you have to use synthetic or you're neglecting your car. I just don't think mixing the two is a worth the trouble. Don't know much about Lucas Oil Stabilizer though. Like I said I'm no expert. 2500 mile oil changes seem a bit excessive though. I think Nissan recommends 5000 miles right? I usually change mine between 5-7000 and that's probably overkill for synthetic. Of course I put that many miles on in two months and it really depends on how you drive too. I've spent hours researching oil on the net and the only thing I've learned is everyone's an expert and everyone has conflicting opinions. You are certainly not hurting your car at all I'm sure.

edit: I have just requested a test kit from Blackstone Labs. Going to run my oil to 10,000 and send it to them. See how well it holds up.

Forget about lucas, that stuff useless.

Switch to Pennzoil Yellow bottle (if you want to stick with regular oil). It has better additives then some synthetic oil!

If you want to go synthetic give Pennzoil Ultra 5w30 a try.

These oils are what I use in all my vehicles and have seen first hand how they clean up the motor and keep internals looking clean.
