engine for my 2003

Hello everyone. I have a 2003 maxima, I know they have some problems cause I blew my engine. Well my question is is the 3.5 engine that is from 2004 to present compatiable to my 2003. Meaning all I have to switch the oil pans and throttle body and could I use the 2003 harness.
Thank you. Steve Dookie.

Well Mr Dookie, the engine from newer years IS compatible. I suggest you research a little on the subject.

My immediate thought is the 6th gen (04-06?) is most compatible. Don't leave out Quest VQ engines either.

Good luck, Mr Dookie...

^ what he said. Many FWD VQ35s will work, The easiest one will be 04-06 Maxima engine. I just got 05 VQ that I am prepping to put in my 02 6 speed

yes, swap out the upper and lower oil pans, swap out he intake manifold upper and lower and fuel rail and the rest of accessories (i.e. alternator, etc.).

you can use original harness.

Maybe even see if you can find a VQ35DE from a 09+ Maxima that was hit from the rear or something.. 290 hp stock!

09+ will take a lot of modding to fit. There is a thread about that on here
