airbag warning light keeps coming back
2001 SE 5SP
every time I reset the light, it would stay off for 1-3 days, then come back on.... and seems it always comes back on a few seconds after I start driving.
I can get to the 'diagnosis mode' following the FSM, but I never get a code using the self diagnosis method..
so what to do now? it's a nuisance to reset it every few days..... and if I go to somebody with Consult II, will that make a difference? can Consult II pull something that self-diagnosis cannot?

No consult || wont make a difference in clearing the code, but if your using a cheap generic tool the consult will at least help you to determine what air bag sensor is faulty, has there been an acciedent recently that set off the airbag light? Have you had the seats out? You either have a connection problem or a bad airbag sensor, i think befor just trying to clear it, you should figure out what sensor is triggering it, there are a few different sensors so find the culprit befor trying to just clear the light.

no accidents.
the only thing I can think of is the day before it went on the first time, I changed the starter motor, but can't imagine that has anything to do with the airbag.
what did you mean by 'cheap tool'? I did the self-diagnosis following the FSM, in the RS segment.
I guess at this point there is really nothing I can do..... I am hoping the symptom actually gets WORSE so I can catch it in diagnosis....
I did visual inspection of the sensors (crash zone, and them sensors under the seats, nothing eye-catching)... never took any seats out of the car either.

my question is what can Consult II read that self-diagnosis can't.... matter of fact right now the light is off, so I don't think the shop can read anything out of it..... yes?

besides, if it were a unplugged sensor, the light would be on ALL THE TIME.
