Code p0430 with a replaced converter

Hi, I own a 2001 Maxima SE. My engine came on and I got it checked by a mechanic who said I needed to replace the catalytic converter in the rear. So I bought the part and had it put in and the car drove great and I got better gas mileage. The engine light was off for about three days and it came back on. I got the code read again at autozone and its the same p0430. He said it could be a number of things but he thinks it could be the o2 sensors. My question is if it is in fact the o2 sensors, would i need to replace both on the driver and passenger side? This is my first car and I will admit I don't know much about cars but I'm learning and I really want to get this fixed.

Also if a low quality catalytic converter is being used, you will continue to get the codes.

Code came back b/c it wasn't the main cat throwing the code as it's unmetered.

Get rid of the precats. Y pipe time.

Or just gut the precats. I hope to be able to afford Cattman headers and Y-pipe soon...

gutting the cats alone will not get rid of the code. you'll need a sim or a fouler.

OP, just replace the precat (the bigger one) and you'll be all set.

This. I will be doing this in the VERY near future. Car is still running great, but with worse gas mileage, so time to replace an O2 sensor, gut the precats, and install the anti-foulers.
