Child Safety Lock Please Help!!!!
I have an 02 Maxima and the passenger back door will not come unlocked for me so I can open it from the outside or the inside. The previous owner had an issue with the child safety lock but said he fixed it. Apparently it has gone out on again and I don't know what to do to get the door unlocked and open. I do have the panel of the door off to where i can see the metal running from the lock to the door handle but it wont give when I pull on it or shake. If anyone has any suggestions on what to do to possible get it open and remove the child lock please let me know....

Thank you, I plan on taking the handle off in the next day or so to check it, but the reason I think it may be the locking mechanism is that it doesn't pull back as far when unlocking it as the drivers side rear door.

Child Safety Lock Design/Fault
While sailing down the interstate on summer vacation, our daughter in the back seat opened the door while the vehicle was moving! She is autistic and does not understand the importance of keeping the doors locked - especially in a moving car!!!! We were mortified and pulled over to see how this could happen when we had the child safety locks on!
Turns out, if you watch the child safety lock being engaged, a little black plastic lever moves (at the back of the handle). Our daughter witnessed this movement and pulled the black lever back to the way it was and voila! The door handle will now open.
This was on a Nissan Maxima 2016 that we rented. It was not a freak thing - all the doors did this. Other than duct tape, which would only be temporary, I'm not sure how this could be fixed. JUST BE CAREFUL!
