H3 hid (help)

What's up fellas, just got these DDM 55w h3 6lights kit for the fog lights, I connected them and one side turns on perfect ,the other lights up and just shuts off after 5 seconds.

. DO I need a relay or could it be just be a bad bulb??
Anyone specialize in this HELP??

Shouldn't need a relay. Sounds like the ballast or loose connection. My experience is when the bulb is bad it will either not ignite or will flicker.

Personal experience:
1. You need H3c bulbs, they are shorter and won't make contact with the deflector in the driving light housing.
2. A 55w HID kit is overkill and you will regret it. I run a 55w kit cause I got it for free. As soon as I can, I will be replacing it. People say HID run cooler than standard bulbs, I don't believe that for a 55w system. When I started running my system, both my driving light lenses cracked. I dismissed it and bought oem Nissan (brand new) housings. I also installed clear overlays (thickest they offer) to protect my new lenses. In about a year, my passenger lens is again cracked.

Additionally, you will go through bulbs quickly. 55w system cuts life of bulbs to 1/2 or 1/3 their potential. I'm on my 4th set of bulbs over 2 years. I am now admittingly running a better quality bulb and H3c, so should last longer. However, I will be trading out this system for a 35w one. I do not (nor will you) benifit from 55w system in he driving lights. These lenses are not designed for HID anyway, even if aimed properly........which I hope you've done.

Swap the bulb out from the side that works and see if it stays on. That will determine if its the bulb or ballast.

and keep an eye on the housing. 55w kits run really hot.

sounds like it could be a bad ballast, my friend ordered a DDM tuning kit and one of the ballast was bad. he had to send it back fro them to test it and they sent him a new one, but it took like weeks. seems like DDM is slacking on their quality control ever since they decided to ship directly from China

When you hid the fogs its a hit or mis thing with needing a relay just put one in and it should be ok.if the ballast/bulb works on the other side swap in the one you think is bad if it works good if it dont good luck getting a replacment from them clowns.

Well after doing various warrant claim, they emailed me that since it happened within 7 days of recieving the item... And it's shipping from Cali store instead of china

" Thank you for contacting us to report that your HID bulb(s) isn't working properly. *We are sorry for this situation.

Because this problem arose within about 7 days of your receiving the HID kit, we will be sending you a replacement bulb(s) without you having to send the defective bulb(s) back to us (which is our normal procedure).

Before we can send you the replacement bulb(s), we require that you send us a photo of the faulty bulb with the wires cut (please cut the wires that would connect to the ballast).

***If there is a single faulty bulb, please disable ONLY that one bulb. *If you happen to have a pair of defective bulbs, please disable both bulbs. *Thank you.***

Please note the information below as to how to email us the photo(s).

Upon receipt of the photo, we will ship you a replacement bulb(s)."

when you installed the hids did you push the reflector in the fog lights a little bit foward for clearance for the bulb or else it will hit the reflector and cause it to shut off or even blow out your bulb

Been dealing with HID bulbs for the since they were first introduced and I did have this issue on one of my Honda's before. The culprit might be that your charging system isn't working right and isn't juicing the battery to feed your ballast. Because they require so much power if it doesn't they will not work right, or it could be a simple grounding issue. Either that or the bulb needs to go through the "break in" phase where you keep turning it back on until it stays on. My advice is to take it out and plug it directly to your battery negative to negative and positive to positive to see if it still cuts off after 5 seconds or hook it up to a fully charged battery pack. I'm sure the kit is fine. Try that

Relay is the way to go to ensure no future problems arise. I bought the H3 Fog kit w/ relay & have no problems @ all! It's only $10 and will help out with future problems. Alot of people will tell you that you won't need it, but it is better to be safe than sorry. I just ordered new bulbs & ordered an extra relay just in case i need another in the future. Also 55w fogs are overkill. I have the 35w & it is more than enough. I'm pretty sure your fog light housings will crack eventually since it is glass. The 35w run hot, so the 55w will def crack them over time. Especially if it starts to rain and u had your lights running for a while. Hot glass & cold liquid don't mix! My H3 bulbs dont touch the housing either, so i would suggest to stick with those. The reason they want you to cut the wires is to make sure u cant use them in the future. Just cut the wires in the middle so u have enough play to put them back together. Free Bulb! Keep me posted on your progress/outcome.

Good to hear that u got it figured out. As long as you dont go to one of those car stereo/alarm places to get it fixed! They tried to charge me $225 to change one ballast. There reason for that price: Area was dirty or some **** & the ballasts are expensive. They are just there to take your money! Bought a new ballast for $15 and installed in 15 minutes. If you need help with lighting or any wiring, let me know. I am in Queens also & can give u some help if u need. Good luck!
