Engine Noise

How much engine noise is normal for a stock 2003 nissan maxima se automatic? Is it normally a relatively quiet vehicle or should i notice some engine vibration at idle or stopped while in gear (reverse, drive, 3,2,1). Ive had the front motor mount replaced and I'm just curious if my old mount absorbed most of the engine vibrations while my new one is too stiff or should i get it checked out? By the way, by vibration, i mean in idle or stopped in gear, i can feel the car shaking, my steering wheel even shakes.

Do you know if they replaced the original electronically controlled mounts with the same type or did they put manual mounts instead?

I have been struggling with this vibration since I purchased the car. I replaced coils thinking it was a miss as it is shaking, but not officially making the rpm gauge fluctuate. I replaced coils thinking that was what was it because there is no code (check engine lamp) found my valve covers leaking filling up spark plug holes, however didn't fix the slight miss (what I call it) I am not going to spend any more money trying to find this until it shows more issues. It seems when I run the car really hard it goes away for a few moments. My friend thinks it maybe a dirty intake, but I am not sure just yet.

it is at the lowest rpm under load. in neutral you barely feel it at all if any, but in gear with foot on the brake. car runs so hard other than that which is awesome.

They replaced the front mount with an aftermarket one but i don't think it was electronically controlled. are the electric ones alot more expensive to replace?

Replacing them is basically the same for both; the only difference is plugging the harness that comes with the electronic ones. If you don't know which kind of mounts they installed in your car, I'm guessing you didn't have a say in deciding that. Whether they charged you for automatics but installed manual ones instead, is another story.
I would assume they cost more than the manual ones. You might want do an online price search or call a couple of auto part stores to find out.

2001 Maxima noise around 2000 RPM

I have a 2001 Maxima GLE. My car when reaches 2000 rpm, it makes a squeaking noise from under the car. (it sounds like somewhere in the left front). I found the noise to be under the car under the driver seat area. The noise was a broken ground wire that comes off the catalytic converter and connects to the chassis of the car which just happens to be around the under side of the car in the driver seat area. The broken wire resonated around the 2000 RPM. I removed the ground wire and no more noise around 2000 RPM. I did not replace the ground wire because the exhaust pipe to me is a ground by connecting to the engine block through the multiple exhaust pipes and by the bolts making connections between the pipe segments.
