1 alarm question and 1 window question

My key fob has been broken so I use the physical key in the lock to unlock the car. Lately when I unlock the car the alarm goes off and I cannot get it to shut off unless I keep turning the key hoping it works or hit the unlock button on the fob and hope it works. Is this common and if so, what can I do.

Also, I think the master switch for my windows is broken. I cannot roll down ANY WINDOW WITH ANY SWITCH! At first it was just drivers side windows. Now it is all. Is that master switch? Hard to replace?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Master switch is simple. Get one from same year you have, here on the classifieds, pry trim off from door panel, remove 2 connectors, reverse.

I just noticed the door locks don't work either. Still sound like master switch, yes?

Edit: I just thought about a blown fuse. Is there a fuse that shares alarm/locks/windows. I know I need the master switch too still.

You don't need to remove the door trim to remove/replace a window switch. You pry up the back end of the switch and lift up and pull back.

Check these 2 fuses - # 10 and # 13, both 10 amps.
Fuse 10 is in the top row, 2nd from the right end.
Fuse 13 is the bottom row, 2nd from the left end.

The driver's door window switch could be responsible for all the problems but no guarantees on that. If either of the 2 fuses are blown, the door switch may not have a problem. Fuses 10 and 13 power the SECU module (Smart Entrance Control Unit). This module works in conjunction with the driver's door power window switch to unlock doors and move the windows.

The alarm could be the SECU module but it could also be the door lock cylinder. There is an electrical switch on the lock cylinder that sends a signal to the SECU when the key is turned.

Sorry I didn't report back quickly...beautiful day out and no work.

The fuses are fine. The alarm only went off once today out of the handful of times I unlocked the car.

Also, if I bang the master switch area the windows will work for a second. So that may not explain the alarm part but obviously I need that wiring harness. Where is a good place? Junkyard? I think it will be to expensive anywhere else.

Are your power seats and sunroof working?
A defective Master switch caused all those features to stop working on my son's 2000 Maxima, except for your alarm problem. Replaced the Master switch, along with a related 40 amp fuse in the engine compartment, and everything was in working order.
