vq35de block question
I have been reading threw the forums awhile now trying to find an answer but couldn't find a clear one.anyway i have a 03 maxima that i just bought and it has 2 spun rod bearings.i am wanting to replace the bottom end and my question is will any 02-08 vq35de engine blocks work(fwd block of course)?i thought about getting a newer block for the lower mileage and from what Ive read they don't have as much oil leak problems.i didn't know if i could just swap my top end over to a newer block or not so please any help or info is much appreciated, thank you.

what about the 09+ block, are those usable also with 03 top end?i know i could use the whole 09+ engines with slight modification and have more power but id like to just use my top from my 03.

yeah im sure there is metal shavings threw the whole engine but i was hoping on just cleaning up the top end since it was still pumping oil up to the top and the top end was still working.the engine was still running when i started to tear it apart.but i found a couple complete good low mileage blocks for sale and that's the only reason i was gonna go that route.also it seems a good complete engine is hard to find around here where i live and what there is here they have almost 200,000 miles and they still want 1,100 dollars for it.

04-08 motor will require new timing chain guides and tensioners if you plan on keeping the car for a long time or putting a lot of miles on it.
Perhaps you could get the vehicle history with a VIN and if it was serviced at nissan in case they were replaced already?

I never did find out last time I was wondering, can we swap the FWD block for a RWD setup?
I have a local Maxima 3.5 engine that is going super cheap, but I have no idea if I can use it. I'd likely use only the short block right.

correct me if im wrong cause im new to maxima's but from all that i have read over the past month i don't think you can use the different blocks because the motor mounts are positioned different on the block it self on the rwd vs the fwd version.

I'd use the G35 head anyways, but will it just mount right up, no shenanigans, same compression ratio, etc, etc? And how about those engine mounts, should be the same, right? Obviously just need to switch the physical mounting bracket, but the bolt holes/pattern should be the same for them right?
