Eternal Battery Light?

So, the Maxima was getting hard to start, and we took it over to our mechanic to give it a look. The alternator, charging system, etc. tested fine except that the battery was testing poor. Also, the Battery light came on last week.

This morning, we put a new battery in it and everything tests perfectly...except the Battery light is still on.

Any ideas what might be up with that? Given the age/mileage, I'm willing to ignore it as simply old age, unless there's something cheaply fixable that might be at fault.

Thanks.

Alternator tests fine. Charging system is working as designed.

The regulator is what triggers the light and that is effected by the turn on speed of the alty which is effected by the air gap between the rotor and stator so my guess is your alty i bad get a new one or in plane terms the reg in the alty is shot
