Swapping Engine, Which nissans have same engine?

I KNOW I KNOW DONT FLAME ME!!!!! Just need an answer
My precat is toast in my 2002 6 speed and i have smoke coming out my exhaust. My engine already has 200+ so i just rather swap it out. What cars have the same engine that I can use? like what years and models have our engine? also what parts would i need to consider if using something other than a 02/03 Manual engine? Can i use an auto engine?

Well I mean which cars also use the same engine that would be a fit to swap into my 02 maxima. I heard somebody said Nissan quests and 350z's but im also interested in what years use it and also what are the differences and things i would have to considers if not using an 02/03 6 speed maxima engine

why not flame? its right there in the all motor section... probably the one of the first links when you search.

350 is a RWD car duuuuhhh. legit it would've taken less time searching here, or even googling it (like 5 mins to learn what you're asking) than you posting and waiting for an answer.

This question has been asked and answered several times.
Search!!

It DOES NOT matter if the engine is from a manual or auto, just make sure it's FWD.

AH man you are right!!! Ive been a member of this site for YEARS and have NEVER clicked the motor section for anything.
I'll head over there now. But hey I knew the flame was coming so I can do nothing but take the backlash lol. But thanks for the direction.

FFS i just answered this question in another post yesterday
1. 02-08 3.5 FWD engines
2. 04+ need upper/lower oil pans swapped and intake Manifold swapped along with the 2 sensors for the crank
3. Any Nissan product that is FWD and has a 3.5 engine will work minor differences but parts off of the old engine fix that!

There will be minor differences between generations. Here is a swap thread that will give you an idea of what kind of things to expect. http://forums.maxima.org/all-motor/6...vq35-info.html

As said above, as long as you have your old engine for donor parts you should be able to make a newer gen vq35de work.

doesn't matter, just swap out the oil pans and you'll be good to go.

Also, good idea to do any tsb's on the replacement motor.

I see you didnt put any notes next to 1. 02-08 RWD engine, does that mean those will be a direct fit? Did you mean FWD? and RWD will have minor differences? Because ours are FWD

Okay so I spoke To Brian Cattman, SUPER NICE AND HELPFUL GUY....I will be getting headers after this engine ordeal. But anyway he said try to stick to Maxima engines because(not remembering words exactly) if I get like a nissan quest engine it might not perform as well because of the ecu or something like that?. However when I do the Car-Parts.com search. Nissan Quest Engines are also coming up with the results for the 04 Maxima engine search im doing and they have SUPER LOW MILES and really cheap. My question is will a Nissan Quest engine actually perform the same as a Maxima engine? I just dont want any power loss issues, etc. 04-6 Quest.

Unless you got the Quest ECU to go with it, I wouldn't worry about it performing like a quest.

Sadly enough, the Quest ECU architecture is probably closer to that of an A34, so, in theory, far more tuneable over the counter than the bastard 5.5 gen ECU, sans Haltech.

$900 for a local 06 Quest engine with 30k on it.... i think I might pick that up!!!!
So from what you guys saying, its a direct fit right? Or is this like on the 04 Max engine where I will need to use my old 02 Max oil pans? Thats the only Engine parts right?

Check out Nissan And Maxima engine descriptions here at hiperformer.com/automotive to make your high performance engine choice. You can find the same with Car-parts.com as your have said, to swap engines in your automobile.

Another one vanished, why do people even chime in with knowledge. A simple search results in just that.....results. God, I'm one bitter forum member after seeing 95% of the posts on the homepage. NM the questions I get selling suspension, will 02 suspension work from an 01 5th?

Engine itself is running good, Engine came from an 04 Auto and my mechanic admitted he messed up and aligned the flywheel with the wrong hole. Auto has one hole, my manual has 2, so its cranks a while and then starts. He is going to realign the flywheel monday. Besides that it pulls great. I got some other stuff to get done before it runs to potential. I think my maf is going out so im going to do the 2000-2001 "Maf swap" and im going to get the JWT Pop Charger to replace my Cold AIr Intake since my filter is dirty. Anyway my point is that i am not feeling the full potential of the engine because of these, however it runs WAY better than my old one so far. It will run like a dream once i fix those issues though.

No pics yet. Maybe in a week or so when I get the JWT Pop Charger on and clean up the engine bay. :-) Thanks though! excited to get all the other issues fixed soon so I can ride like a real Maxima.org representative out here. I plan on getting some .org decals too.
