& that rad support seems to be pretty far gone.
Hoses looked in decent shape so I decided not to replace them. Not sure that I want to deal with fixing that rad support so there might be some tough decisions to make in the future.

Not sure what I would do, if the car gets replaced it'll be with something cheap. It's not a daily vehicle so no need to spend a bunch of money on something that just depreciates while sitting in a parking garage 90% of the time. Another 5th gen is tempting as I'm now familiar with them and have been through a lot of the common issues. On the other hand I do know the full history of my current one so maybe just keep it and do the repairs. Idk it's a tough call, will have to put some thought into it.
Replaced the dead unit with a borg warner.
Job was probably 2/10. The tough part is getting the screws lose if you don't
have the right tools. They shouldn't come off using a normal screwdriver and hand strength alone.
Washed, waxed, and cleaned the inside of both my 03s. Also changed the plugs and coil packs in my silver one. Will be installing new kyb struts and h&r springs tomorrow.
They are platinum. I'm guessing they are the factory ones. I just bought the car. It has 101,000 miles on it. Been cleaning the mess out of it. The previous owner apparently wasn't about keeping a car clean. I also have new rotors and pads coming. Should be here by the end of the week.
I replaced the struts on my other 03 and my 2k. It's not to terribly bad. I have an impact wrench and a spring compressor which makes it much easier than when I had to do it by hand with a ratchet strap to compress the spring like I did years ago on the 2k. Won't do it like that again!
Had the all-too-familiar SES light come on about a couple weeks ago. Pulled the codes. Only the dreaded 1320 came up. I took her wide open a few times to see if it would trigger the misfire cylinder number. No luck and zero hesitation or misfire symptoms. It still ran perfect.
Today, I got to fill up with some premium fuel with 0% ethanol. Drove about 100 miles. Started the car after it had been off for a few hours.
Poof! No more SES light!

A few days ago I decided to change my cabin air filter, and look over my exhaust system for leaks. I found that the gasket between my test pipe and resonator had completely blown out, thankfully I had a new oem gasket on hand to replace it with. Now my header/exhaust combo is much quieter, and I don't have so much of the horrible smelling exhaust (no cats anymore) infiltrating my interior.
I also decided to clean my AEM dryflow filter, although it really wasn't terribly dirty. On the first time I took it for a drive the next day I suddenly had issues with stalling (deactivating my sprint booster fixed this issue), hesitation above 3500RPM, and an inconsistent idle. When I parked at the mall I disconnnected and reconnected the harness clip for the MAF sensor, and thankfully this fixed the issues. I must have had a poor connection, I will clean the harness connector with some contact cleaner. I also plan to clean the MAF as well, I used to run oiled K&N filters for many years, so perhaps a cleaning is in order.
Had some blonde moments recently adding some brakes to the car.
Installed FB rear BBK, got caught up and didn't have dual jack stand ( I do now, not a week ago though), so I put the front wheels back on and raised the rear, got caught up, and couldn't even get a hard pedal with the car off, 2 liters of brake fluid, and bam, SOB, forgot the passenger side caliper crush gaskets. Awesome, got a firm pedal with the car off, oh snap, bled again. Hmm WTMF is wrong with me? Only bled one side/nipple of the calipers, pedal spongy as all m'fkn hell when on (brake booster working). So yeah, headed home today to bleed again.
3 sets of speed bleeders, 1 vacuum bleeder tool, and 1 (awesome by the way) caliper piston tool later and I think I'm on my way, although the rear brakes began making the infamous FB Rear BBK grinding noise out back, need to take a look at that.
Oh yeah, and I think my steel oil pan is leaking or I know it is. Don't think it's the cooler o-ring, although I bought one just in case. I will change that and keep an eye on it. If that's not it, I'll change the oil pan RTV. I might even use a gasket even though it stated not to, heard good things of the Fel-Pro unit. After all, don't want to add Amsoil that I have ready to go in if I just have to drain it all out again.
Fun fun fun, too old for this sh^t.
Oh yeah and my commuter's PS took a poo, 800$ to replace PS lines, sold that. Pathfinder needs some sort of pulley bearing, not sure which one it is at this point but I've been driving that beast to work, 100 miles a day @ 12.5 MPG, not cool. Not to mention wearing my 400$ 35" tires. Yeah I hope I solve this brake issue soon.
I finally installed my Kenwood head unit to replace the Bose. I ordered the Kenwood about 6 weeks ago, but this was a case of nothing going right on what should be a simple job. The most aggravating part was the Metra antenna adapter. I ordered it from some schmuk named Alex Razipour that sells on Amazon under the name of Car Audio Online. He is in Los Angles and ships the stuff through a UPS store.
He originally shipped me the wrong thing and then became non-communicative. Back on June 29th, he sends an e-mail saying he is shipping me a replacement. A week and a half later I don't have it. I send him another email saying that I better have either the part or my money back by July 10th. No response, nothing by July 10th. July 11th I called my credit card company and got them to reverse the payment and credit my card back. I also ordered another antenna adapter from somewhere else.
So Monday I get an email from this guy saying he is shipping me a replacement part and gives me a post office tracking number. Tuesday afternoon when I enter the tracking number into the postal web site, it comes back as invalid. Oh well. I don't care anymore. I got the other adapter I ordered an the radio is installed. I wonder what good old Alex will do when he finds out that the credit card company took the money back.

complete center console
fuel cover release motor(or mechanism)
battery strap/bracket

Pioneer avh-x2700bs. Just some bs Metra double din plate for now. Going to order the factory double din opening like I did for my 2000. Just wish they made it the right color for a 2003. Oh well the darker gray will probably look better with the black interior

installs done!! also pinned the trunk lining in as it was all over the place.
the fuel cover release works great but the metal piece that acted as a spring was not pushing enough to open the cover when i pressed the button, adjusted that now it pops open.
unfortunately i found out that the driver side seat heater light isnt coming on on this console as well (last was the same, but the buttons are new now) so it must have issue else where. any suggestions help
Can you tell if the seat heats up? I assume the heater worked with the old console, so I would think that the switch is bad. If the seat heater is working, then it is just the light that burned out. If the seat heater doesn't work, then the whole switch is bad.
Either way, swap out the switch with one from the old console. Both seats use the same switch.
Well getting new toyo tires installed and an alignment. My car is finally ready to be driven.
Ordered the factory double din/vent. I know it's a different color so I'm going to order an ac control off eday to match. I just don't like the look of the Metra D-Din. Looks cheap.
I've had the Metra and the Scosche double dins and they feel just as cheap as the OEM. What I thought was a bit ironic is that while the OEM double din has the trim detail to match the HVAC controls, the trim is not defined the the extent that the HVAC controls has. It's a subtle difference, and it's just kinda weird. It's like that of comparing a blurry picture to a clear picture. Don't get me wrong though, the OEM double din looks the best.

Went to start the car yesterday and had smoke and flames, so I had to replace my alternator and the wires going to it.
When I got under the car, I saw that the right CV axle was flinging grease all over the place. So I have another project.

I feel your pain on the axle i replaced my passenger side axle two weeks ago with a reman from the parts store and it's doing the same....smh i think i'll just replace the Japanese style clamp they use for a worm(American) style clamp to fix it!
Unlike most of the people that own cars, I don't have any attachment to it. It is like a ball point pen to me - when it can't do its job anymore, it is history.
I look at what the problem is and if I consider it to be normal stuff, I don't get upset over that. I don't know if this car can sense it, but it has been pretty good to me.

Bought some leather back seats for 35 dollars and got the silver kick plates for free. Got to clean them. And might go get the heated black leather seats out of a 6th gen tomar if I can talk dude into giving me a good price.
