auto trans fluid does have a smell, its disgusting. i love the smell of gear oil and used motor oil, but ATF churns my stomach for some reason. has that rose smell

there was one time i changed the trans on a Ford Explorer, and the old trans was absolutely toast. as in the oil was pitch black. i forgot i didnt drain the stupid thing and tipped the output end down, got at least a gallon of burnt trans fluid allover me. and it soaked through my coveralls onto my shirt, everything. it smelled so horrible and it didnt go away for days

Eh, just take your time and pay closer attention next time. I'm with you though, a lot of this is new to me and seems very backwards. I just bought my first import a little over a month ago. ALl I have to say is THANK YOU! Better you than me huh?! I now know what NOT to do!!! You gotta admit though, this is a classic!

Come on, ish happens man. These imports are "foreign" to us Domestic guys. I can see myself with a couple beers in me thinking, "maybe right now is a great time to change my oil on the new Maxima....hiccup."

Hey, just leave to extra oil in it. If it is like most 3.5 engines, it will use it up anyway.

Haha, that's quite a bit of extra oil! But the 3.5's burn a lot of oil though?

Since I notice that the level was to high, I opened the oil pan but nothing came out.
Why is happening?

PS. I recently bought this car, and I think the transmission oil change has never been done.the oil was dark brown

When you drop the fluid you should measure it and put that amount back in. Start the car, move the selector through the gears, check the fluid in P (or N) to make sure you aren't too low, drive the car to warm up trans., check fluid again.

this is the most funniest post I ever read, and yet you said you owned a Acura Integra, that car is FWD and you didn't noticed where the Tranny is located?

Hoooooooolllleeeew up! Every last one of you know exactly what happened.

"Babe can I come over for some cookie"
" hmmmmm yeach but you have to change the car oil first"
" can you get the oil before I get there"?
" you know I don't get paid until next week! Plus I wouldnt know what to get"
"Ok, I stop and get the oil"
" also, babe, get some beef jerky. I got the munchies"
"Can you find something in the house? That will be another stop!"
"....look, just get me the jerky!!"

........shisshhhh I hate working on her car. Can never seems to find the right parts. Have to always guess. But you know what. Am gonna rear that a$$$$$ up since she have me waiting another 45minutes.

...... i think I changed the car oil, but am surely going to change mine.

The forty five minutes now turned into 20 minutes. WTH. No oil
