Yep, coolant temp needs to be at operating temp, 65ºC/150ºF or so. Same for IAVL, etc. Cipher wont let you do it, it will show the ECT in red, and right under it show the acceptable ranges, as it should

Maybe pick up a cheap Android tablet? Might be worth it.

How so you maintain the 150 range.... My car warms right up to 195 in like 5-7minutes....maybe at the 150s for a minute

I wonder if retarding the timing would work for pinging/knocking? Very interesting find regardless!

As long as it's between 150 and 220. Basically, above 150, I should have said.

220 and you've got problems.

I see no reason why it wouldn't work on an Android tablet. Make sure it has bluetooth though.

It only allows adjustment from 0 to 2, can't retard the timing. I'm in contact with the developer and I ran some tests and logged them for him. I asked if he could add adjustment down to -2, we'll see.

If you're having pinging/knocking there's probably a larger issue you need to look into, rather than using the program as a band aid. IJS

Still would be a nice feature to have. Especially for those who want to cheap out on the octane level at the pump. But IMHO those people should buy a Honda instead.

Timing up 2 degrees is making a noticeable difference in my fuel mileage. @ 350 miles I'm usually at 1/4 tank already. Everybody should be doing this as long as you use premium fuel.

I see you have an ABS light, any success diagnosing with this app? I'll admit I haven't played around with it much.

Yup... I knew what it was before I got the app but I used the app to verify and it found my left rear sensor is NFG.

Good to know. I just went through PID's for ECM, looks like I need a freon charge for the ac. Starting to like this app a lot.

The app worked fine for me but was a little buggy at first. My car didn't seem to like having its timing advanced though. There was an immediate noticeable difference, and when I hit the gas the car stumbled and hesitated hard. I switched it back and it was fine.

Dude that would be a long list. I mean it can read anything the computer can read. O2 sensor voltages, MAF reading, coolant temps, injector readings, cooling fans on/off, a/c readings, fuel readings....the list is long. The obvious things that make this app better have already been discussed.

When the wife gets home with the car I'll snap some more screen shots. It's going to be a lot to post though, good thing there's not too many 56k users these days.

Edit: is there something specific you're looking for?

When connecting I could not connect to TCM, SRS, BCM-40, BCM-42. Anyone else have luck? I kept getting an error message.

And don't take this the wrong way JwatZ.... But you have alotta time on your hands to A: go out and research all the individual PIDs and B: post them all. You sir must have patience like a hospital... Lol
But everyone now knows everything this app can do for us, and for that..... I applaud you good sir.

Ehh, after the kids go to bed and the wife is asleep what is there to do? Didn't take to long, but i got lazy with the shift key before I got out of the A's, lol.

Also running some more tests for the developer, trying to figure out how to get negative adjustment of the timing and idle rpm. He added a list function for the self tests which make idle rpm adjustment a lot easier. Some of you could participate in this as well, just follow the scantool link I posted above. If your going to request some features please be courteous enough to run some tests for him if he pushes them through.

Cancel your order if you can. ELM Never made a 1.5.

Please note:
There is no ELM327 v1.4a, or v1.5, or v1.5a ! Some clone makers have introduced what they call a 'v1.4a', or
a 'v1.5', or a 'v1.5a' but Elm Electronics has never made one.
