I had the same problem problem with my new BT adapter. It seems to be quite a bit more temperamental than the one my buddy has. I got pretty pissed when i first unboxed it as i couldnt get it to connect, java errors, etc. I had to unpair/repair it from within the app serveral times to get it to work. But I guess what do you expect for something thats $12 shipped to your door...finally got it to work but it took about 10 min and some cussing. BTW im using a LG Nexus 4.. hope this helps

I had similar issues, some of the BT adapters are finicky. But after some time, it works.

Also, make sure your app has all the updates. I remember when I first got the app I had this issue a lot. Once you get it connected, create and save a PROFILE! I load and connect from the profile now, not the... Nissan, Ecm, bla bla bla...

Wish me luck...

I'm pretty sure this ELM is just a price of shiit.

No luck at all.

Not sure which one you have, but this is what I'm using. Have used it with CGP, TP, and a couple other OBD2 apps in multiple vehicles.

What version of Android is on the phone you're using? Make sure it's compatible with the application. Not sure what else it could be.

The android version is 2.2.2 and it requires at least 2.0 so I'm good there.

I honestly think it's this bt connector, I have this one:

http://bit.ly/18GayYK

I'm gonna try another phone tomorrow, that's really all I can do to find out if its the bt connector or the phone I'm using.

Then I'm gonna fly to Hong Kong and kick the guy in the nuts, who sold this peice of junk to me.

Well, which Optimus? The L9 has Android version 4.0 and the G has 4.1.2. And I don't know about upgrading the rom. I only do one free Google search for people. I charge $0.18 per keystroke for any after. lol

Edit: didn't see your ninja edit there before I searched, lol. Go to the scantech board and post it for Isaac. He can help you with the issue better than me. Go back through this thread and you'll find a link.

Just read through the specs for the elm there. I didn't see that it has kwp2000 support, which is needed for this function. Maybe I missed it.

Yah I don't see it on there either.

I did not know to look for that, but I did make the decision to get this one after someone posted in this thread that they used it and it worked fine.

I don't know, I'll come back to it tomorrow I guess...

Yes yes, I see it now.
I'm learning... Most of that was just mumbo jumbo to me when I ordered this thing.

I wonder if I can get my money back for this one?

You can add me to the list that got this done. I ordered the elm mini 327 from the link on the first page yesterday afternoon. Got it in the mail today. (The location in NJ is actually 15min from my house). The whole process went smooth like butter. After I downloaded the app, it took me about a whole 5 min to set the timing. I will play with the other features while I'm at work tomorrow. This car is bone stock besides this. Love the throttle response, I can feel more power in the midrange. Excellent for quick lane changing/merging during traffic. I can already tell its slightly improving my mpg's. The OP of this thread should be given a prize or something. Seriously, good find!

ordered a elm327 plugged it in and everything went smooth. few minutes and got timing adjusted. I can feel some extra low end-mid range pull, better throttle response. gas mileage has slightly went up also. very happy with this, great find.

Just got this in the mail the other day..

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=120992229704

Dl'ed the app, and can't seem to connect to the elm. When I go to connect/search for bt devices, the elm shows up 4 or 5 times, so I click on one at random (though usually just hit the first/top one) and then I get a java error and am unable to connect. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Not sure what to tell you. When I get to the Java error I unpair, repair, and I'm good to go. Never had it show up numerous times.

After waiting a month this ones not working either.

It's keeps coming up mnuError, when I try to connect after choosing
Nissan
ECM(gasoline)
OBDII

This is not cool...

Contact Isaac on the scantech board. Link is in this thread a few times. Also, if you have Pandora, disable bluetooth functions within Pandora. Last issue I could think of. I've now done this on 8 different Nissan's now. It does work dude.

Jumped on the Jwatz "just try it" bandwagon and got the timing advance feature to work on a 2000 Infiniti I30 using an old A** Mytouch 3G and a Vgate mini ELM327 off fleabay .It didnt want to work while I let the car warm up to temp in the garage but when I went around the block it worked like a charm with no hiccups.

Also to verify it worked I shut the car off and unplugged the ELM and shut the program down on my phone.I reconnected the device, cranked car back up and viewed the live data.It was fluctuating between 17/18 degrees repeatedly.

Agreed, this will not work for me on two different dongles.

It keeps saying mnuConnect error...

I emailed the address from the app.

Which dongle did you use?

I'm wondering if the phone I'm using is the problem, it's almost flown across the garage a couple times now.... This is so frustrating.

Where are you located? What year is your car?

I have a 2003 6spd, a Samsung Galaxy S2 and a
Koolertron F-12 Koolertron F-12
from Amazon. It didn't work very well at first but I figured out some settings and it seems OK now. This dongle is HUGE and sticks down too far to leave it in a 5.5 gen all the time.

If you're near S. Charlotte we can hook mine up and see if it connects, if not maybe someone else close to you will volunteer.

It's an '02 4AT. I'm in New Jersey, about ten minutes from Philly. If someone in the general area would be able to advance my timing for me, I'd drive and compensate them for their time. Don't know if I want to buy a 3rd dongle...

And it needs to be done immediately after plugging in the dongle and turning the car on.
