Productive Weekend .....THEN.....

Well with my 4 day weekend I decided to take care of a few thing on the todo list for my maxima.
I replaced my ugly faded steering wheel with a much more cosmetically appealing one.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

And if you seen in the car gauge pro thread I had an ABS light on. I replaced that right rear wheel sensor and light gone. Thank You MaximaJoe.

Some douche coming from on coming traffic decided to take a left in front of me when there was clearly not enough time.I was able to come to an almost complete stop before contact but has I hit him he kept diving so the whole side of his 1996 buick LeSabre is done son.....

With the accident being his fault is that I dont know if I want to ttake the check and fix it myself or have a shop do it.I really am worried about the bumpem matching as far as paint goes....
What do you guys think I have in damages here?

Well considering I just went through an accident and STILL HAVE NOT GOTTEN MY MONEY.... The estimate for a new bumper, headlight, foglight should be around 6-700 bucks, plus paint at another 2-300 bucks. Then figure in labor if you aren't doing it yourself.

And that's the estimate from a shop for an adjuster, obviously you can find cheaper used parts. Id say the estimate from a shop will be between $1500-2000.

That is not too bad. If you don't want to deal with it take it to a shop. If you want to save money do the work yourself. I got hit in a similar way last year. My car is the same color too. I repaired most things myself and fixed the car with less than 400 I think.

Junkyard! I was hit last week on the highway. I need a new bumper and trunk lid. Junkyard plus painted bumper was ~$500 tops....the check I got was $2400. I had to push out the tail light to make it flush again but thats about it. Point is call the junkyard!!

I'm going to have to do some serious hunting for the junkyards tho. The ones near me never have 02-03. It's always 01 and older. I guess I'll have to see what the check is and see if it's worth my time.... I'm work ng 60-70 hours a week right now... If I come across like new lights and fogs on here that would be a huge time saver.....

How well the paint matches depends on the body shop. If they have good people, no problem. Look at some of the cars they have worked on that are still at the shop and see how they do.

Yea I got a closer inspection of it today. Headlight, bumper cover, sidemarker, and possibly a fender.... Found a little crease in it.

The gap between the headlight and bumper is huge, The headlight is sitting too high in the fender opening and also sticking out past the fender and the fender isnt alligned with the hood. ....

now the side that wasnt hit...............

Ok so the bodyshop called and said my car was allset......This is what I pulled up to.... Ridiculous gaps everywhere, The passenger side light does even sit in opening in the fender properly. its too high and sticks out. The gap between the fender and the hood goes from bigger to smaller from the rear of the hood to the front and the headlight projects out about ten feet in front of the cars on the ground, they didnt even align the beams.

The driver side...that wasnt hit is even worse....I can fit my finger in the headlight bumper gap....and it looks like the fastener is ripping through the bumper.....I cant believe they are willing to consider this a finished product and give it back to me.

They were closed when I went there to get it.....so I called and left a message saying im keeping the rental (which I upgraded to a 2012 prius) and they need to call me tomorrow regarding all these issues and I refuse to accept the car in its current condition. Called the appraiser too.....I think I could have done a better job In my driveway with it.

Most of that looks like because they used inferior aftermarket parts. There are some out there that truly do fit as good as OEM but not many. Not much they can do to fit it together better unless they go OEM. You thank your insurance for that. You are going to have to fight to get your insurance to pay for OEM.

That sucks. Ask them to fix it properly. My 01 (same color as yours) got hit in the same area. I fixed it in front of my girlfriend's house, on her driveway. I just had a friend paint a new bumper cover for me. The car looked like new when I was done. The gaps on yours look big.

Just spoke to the agent handling my case at the insurance company and he said I have to give them the opportunity to make it right. Can't wait to see what the excuse is for this

HA.... The body told me the insurance company would on cover a reconditioned bumper cover.... That Shyt don't fly with me..... The body shop said they will bring it back in and try and line it all up better. If I don't like the end product I'll bring it right to the Nissan dealership for repairs.

Everyone stay away from ANY countryside collision center, they put really really cheap chinese bumpers. There is decent aftermarket bumpers out there this is the worst ive seen.

Ok so I got my car back today.....Looking normal believe it or not......I dont know what the did or how it was done, I just care that it looks like it did before the accident. Ill get pics up tomorrow.

Next order of business is to get a new matching fog light for the driverside. Where is the most reasonable place to get DEPO lights. I would have prefered OEM because I dont like the DEPO logo all over the headlight and in the center of the fog but hey.....Im just happy to have my baby back....
