my sunroof wont open
My 2001 maxima sunroof won't open , my battery was recently swapped for a new one, if that matters. I tried disconnecting the battery to reset the sunroof no luck, I switching the relay and nothing , tried different sunroof switch and still nothing when I press the tilt button I just hear a click sound coming up top from the switch or the motor ? What could it be ?

I've experienced problems mostly when I've disconnected the battery and the sunroof was open (it forgets the positioning). If you do a search you will find the sequence to correct the memory positioning. However, I've also had luck with pressing the tilt button a few times - the roof will open/close a little each time - till I get it to the final position. Then the switches operate normally. You've written that you can hear a click but does the roof move at all? If it does then keep clicking until fully open. If it doesn't I would check for something binding the roof in place (lubricate around the seal and along the tracks).

This will happen if you disconnect the battery with the roof open. Use the tilt button to close the roof. It should move a little each time you push it. Once it's fully closed it should reset and work fine.
The specific instructions are in your owners manual.

Its either the sunroof motor or one of the rails of the sunroof has failed. On my 96 max one of the rails had fail, so i replaced it and it works great. On my 05 max, the sunroof motor went out, when i replaced that, it works like new.

Had this happen for the first time about 8 months ago. I typed "sunroof won't open 5.5" in that search bar up top on you screen and found the answer knight just gave you. Took 10 seconds to get my answer, and it worked like a charm.
