Ok my 5th gen max won't start. Recently replaced 2 coils, spark plugs and some gaskets that I can't remember the name of but they were allowing oil into where coils are. Sound right? Anyway car been doing this not starting thing for few weeks but after 1 or 2 tries it would turn over and start no problem. Now I turn the key it clicks and that's it. Light, radio and all that works so I don't think it's the battery but what do I know I took cooking instead of autoshop in high school (wish I did that different). Think it might be starter? Please help all advice welcome and appreciated. I don't know a lot about engines and I do t have anyone who can fix it.

What spark plugs did you put in? Any codes? Have you tried to jump start the car? Could be starter or alternator. You should test them and see.

Sounds like the starter to me. Try having someone bang on it with a wrench while you try to start it.

I didn't do any of the repairs so i'm not sure if they used OEM or aftermarket parts. I have not tried jumpstarting. If I try that how would I know if it's starter or alternator?

Ok I'll try that. So if that does work then it is my starter and I should have it replaced?
