remote starter

I am looking into getting a remote starter installed in my 2k2 max GLE.
I am wondering if that will void the warranty.

Also, does any other 2k2 owners notice this hoods
vibrating/rattling. My does not make any noises
but I can see it moving. I have check it out and
it is latched correctly and tight.

I put the Valet remote start in my 99 when I baught it new. Dealer will not even know it's in the car. Unless you have ignition switch or wiring problems, your warranty will be fine.

My mom had the remote starter installed in her 2000 Maxima at the dealer. Actually I think the dealer took it to a local stero store to have it done but it is in there.

Shops don't like to install them on manuals. You risk the chance of damage if you leave it in gear and activate the starter. But it can be installed on a manual. You just have to be carefull.

You CAN put a remote start on a manual and it's NOT illegal. The Clifford Concept series alarms allows you to hook up a remote start to a manual. If you have it in gear the vehicle will not start. It will only start if it's in neutral.

How do they bypass having the the special key that we all have in the ignition? I thought the car won't start without the chip in the key being present.

I have the Clifford Concept 100 alarm with remote start, windows, etc. DEI (their parent company) makes a module called the 555U. This is wired in with the remote start module. You have to use one of your spare keys and plug it in the 555U. This allow a remote start to happen without having the key in the ignition. Use your spare key without the plastic around it. Also called your valet key. It's cool warming up your engine in the morning

I've got the 555U. You just throw your valet key in there. The whole thing is hidden under the dash. I got the Audiovox 685 remote start. Seems to be a popular unit these days.

I had the viper rempte starter in my 2001 Altima. when I traded the car in they voided the warranty on it because of the remote starter. Before the starter was installed i called Nissan and they said it would void my warranty. I went to the dealer and they said they would warranty my car if i had the remote starter installed through them. Luckly i went down to Circuit City and they installed the starter and gave me a life time warranty.

how much more does a remote starter cost through the dealer, rather then through circuit city or a stereo shop? Also would u be able to still use only one remote the one that came with ur car? or do u have to cary 2 remotes?

When you get remote start they take your spare key and put it in the engine because our key has a chip that is need to start our car. Also you loose your factory remotes and they give you 2 new ones and you have to pay extra (circuit city) to get trunk release on the new remotes. you also will loose your engine immobilizer (i got the viper alarm don't know if it is the same if you get just remote start). If i would have gotten remote start through the dealer it would have cost over 700$, and at circuitcity for just remote start it is 284$ (including installation +warranty) for the alarm and remote start i paid $500.

I have a 00 Max my hood shakes almost like the front latch isn't hooked, kinda moves back and forth when you are going around 50+ MPH. Dealer told me not to worry about it, isn't this going to deform the hood, I have 45K on it without problems. Does anyone else have this problem?

me too!

Dude,

I have noticed my hood vibrating also. The front drivers side of the hood vibes at high speeds. However it appears to be fully in tact. I havent bothered to do anything about it.

I have a POLAR Command start installed on my 2K1 Maxima, this was done by the dealer when I purchased the car, no warranty problems because they intalled it!. Also I had the same problem of the hood appearing to be loose or raise up at high speed, this happened at 90+ MPH, it did not rattle it just appeared to bulge right above the centerline of the tires at higher speed, I had my dealer adjust the hood latch and no problems since.

I paid about $500 Canadian (about 315 US funds) but this is a good starter, 3000 ft range and with this remote starter you do not have to have your spare key installed in the engine bay to bypass the security system. By using the starter you are basically hot wiring you own car. I can get you the exact model number if you are interested.

Remote start will work on auto/maunuls and will not damage the man if it's dun right. It will not void any warrentys.

I have a viper 550 with remote start.
