mesh grills?

Picked up a set upper and lower, previous owner painted them flat black and I don't think I like that. Any one with an 02-03 kt3 have the mesh that I can see in a pic.

All opinions welcome too.

I kind of like that look. Of course it's different off the car, but I'm curious.

I guess I could try it before changing the color.... I was also debating aluminum /graphite kinda color. Just because I have all new lights in the front and it looks fresh. But I DONT like chrome.

Yea, I see your point.

Man, that flat would look great on my black Max! I'm curious to see what it looks like. It's probably pretty easy to install and uninstall so you could try it out.

They do pop in and out easily. Only zip ties that secure it. I think that's why the black was the color of choice.

Oh wow, then yea, that makes it easy to gauge whether or not you prefer it.

Turns out gloss black is the color for me.

And for ****s and giggles I threw a GTr badge that the kid gave me on there.... Lol... It was only on for the photo, badge is currently in the bottom of my tool box.

Awesome! I figured you'd like it gloss! That looks sick man, other then the badge, which I swear made it instantly look like a Sentra for some reason?!

Well done, I think you've inspired me to see what it would look like on mine.

I agree it does look like a Sentra if you don't see the side of the car. You really should pick up a Sat they are wicked easy to install and mist max2000 has a set in classified section I'm pretty sure the same thing.

To make it look better I painted the middle support for the radiator and the grill support behind the grill in the center black, then painted both horns silver .

Lol!! He just doesn't like it.

As far as install goes, how tight do the edges fit into the bumper? The proper way to typically mount these kinds of grills is to mark (using a pencil or masking/wire tape) where the grills sit when installed. Then, use the thin rubberized double-sided 3m tape to the inside of that line. Install the grills just onto the outer edge of the tape. It blends in with the black of the grill and looks more professional than zip ties. Even the best hidden zip ties are identifiable close up. There are some YouTube videos covering this type of installation.

I like it. Reminds me of someone else's car on here. Can't recall his name.

Hmmm I like the idea of 3m tape. Im going look into it cuz Im not totally thrilled with the zip ties, thanks.

The edges are tight, it was like a perfect fit on the lowers and the main upper just needed a little bend to it but was a really tight fit one zipped in.

I like that it's a change from the standard grill but I've never been able to warm up enough to the look to do it myself. I applaud your efforts however. IMO it always looks a bit too empty up front. Maybe a burger or something mounted on it would help me. Also I think it makes the horns and guts abit too visible in bright light.

Agreed. I know for mine, I painted everything black (hood latch and bracket and horns) and I actually cut out that center section where the grill mounts. I used gloss black, but a flat black might fade those peices out better.

Old version mesh grill.

see I like all yours has a black surrounding the mesh. Gives it a cleaner finished look, did you make it or that a purchase?

Made from a busted stock grill. Measured out and installed a couple monkey pissers (windshield sprayers). Worked out means to stealthily bolt the mesh to the frame. Now working on a metal surround for the mesh, painted flat black.

Yours looks good. That center peice doesn't really do anything, so cutting it out wont matter. I can take some pics of where I cut it if you like/need. But, paint things either flat or gloss blck and clear coat for durability. Take cardboard or plastic bags around parts you want left unpainted and keep paint out of the condenser/radiator. Mask off the peice of the bumper behind the grill that is body color and paint that black as well. Clean things right up and will look nice!

Did you mention where you got that mesh kit? eBay? Hadn't seen them before. Would have been my direction had they been available before I had started my little project. Probably would had just mounted my monkey pissers to the bumper.

Would be able to get some pics for me?... I'm going to try doing it like yours if you don't mind me try to copy you a little bit. Lol

I bought the set on CL for $50. There were installation instructions from grillstech.Com

Yea I definitely like the surrounding part from the stock grill. I was thinking of trying a gun metal color too....something to have the black accented from the rear.... I know the horns need to be black now.

He is my finished grill. Well, finished minus a repaint and possibly having to use another bonding mechanism between the metal trim and mesh.

Love my new LED parking lights!

Four long (tiny) bolts with equally tiny nuts. One in each corner, essentially where the stock grill mounting points are located. I shaved the head of the bolts flat so it would not push out the metal trim piece. Metal trim hides everything.

My favorite part of the grill are the "GTR" tips.

No problem. Can't get them in natural (pure) white, just cool white. I tend to run my parking lights and driving lights (did the re-wire) at dusk and dawn. So, the LED front parking lights really work well. Looks great with headlights on as well. These are fairly bright and very visible during the day. Didn't make sense to go brighter.

http://www.superbrightleds.com/morei...edge-base/204/

I coordinated with Americaner and picked up some great LED tag lights and new reverse lights. The reverse units I got work well it seems. If I decide to go brighter, I'll do the 7w Cree r5's.
