Violent shaking and noise with cold starts

now that the weather is changing i'm noticing a lot more shakes and rattles and noise on cold starts. also have seen some slow shifts from first to second on cold mornings.

anything i can eyeball and rule out as a possible cause?

when was your last oil change? If you have dirty old oil or thick oil cold startups could be shaky as the weather gets colder, something you wouldnt notice in warm summer weather. The tranny shifting different seems normal, most act differently in cold weather to help warm the fluid more quickly

When you say violent shaking do you mean rough idling or a jolt when you start it up ?

whens the last time you changed spark plugs? when i first got my 6 speed, in the cold weather id get severe hard starts and rumbling when first starting the car. changed my plugs and they were fouled and burnt out, car was 100% after that, fixed my random misfire code too.

I would check first to see if they actually are the culprit.

Duration depends on your proficiency. I can do all 4 in less than 2 hours.
