I know you said you were looking for a solution using your stock radio, but I upgraded from my Bose stock radio to the Alpine CDE-147BT and it has built in Bluetooth and I love it. I press the phone button on the radio face and it pulls up a menu of contacts, recently dialed, recently received, and more nonsense. I click like two buttons and I'm connected to the person I want to talk to. I mounted my Microphone on the headliner just above my driver area. Super easy and doesn't distract you from driving. In many states talking and driving is becoming illegal, so Bluetooth devices are becoming more and more popular. I love mine

I'm not much of a stero guy either but like maximaminuim I installed a Bluetooth radio but Sony out the microphone in the same position. And like him I freakin love it. Gets fun to play with when u first get it. And the unit I got is all black doesn't look bad. What looks bad is crappy bezel u have to install
