Please help! Crank, chokes then die??
Ok here's my problem, my 2003 maxima SE cranks up then chokes then it dies. It will crank up sometimes chokes up then dies, it all started awhile back the car would start up run and then die, I was thinking it was the MAF because a friend of mines has a 240 sx and that happens to him and when he changed the MAF everything was fine so I did the same but the problem was still there it would only start only if u take the negative off the connect a few hours later, ok after awhile of having this issue I changed the fuel pump, filter and strainer same problem it would start then shut off after about 5 min of running so I let it sit for about 2 weeks. After that I was speaking to some one at the auto parts store about the issue (he also works in cars) so he said it sounds like it might be the fuel relay or the crank sensor wow, so I switched one of the relays with one of the radiator fan relay and the car started with no problem(still didn't change the crank sensor) the car ran all day with minor issue,it would cut off during driving,I would have to put it in N start it then back in D4 I figured that I should just get a new relay so I parked the car went to sleep woke up in the morning to go get the relay, I tried to start and the car cranked up started choking then died, now I don't think that within a few hr the sensor would just die but I guess so I put a new relay and the same thing, so now I'm stuck not knowing what's going on if there's anyone that can help please I would appreciate it. Also I read a thread about this and it's saying the crank sensor and cam sensor needs to be change, I ordered both from eBay just waiting on them now) if those don't work idk what else to do so if you can give me some helpful advice I would appreciate it.
Guess what...
Well today i took out both cam sensors they had some oil on them "I'm not sure if that's suppose to be on it but i just cleaned them, i also checked to see if the fuel pump was priming "it was", changed some of the vacuum hoses then fired up the car and to my delight "IT STARTED
". i sprayed throttle body cleaner to see if there are any leaks and there we're none. I know that i still have to change both sensors, i didn't get to check the crank sensor but i will as soon as i figure out where they are located. also i think that i need to change the valve cover gaskets but I'm not doing that myself because a lot of people told me that i should let s professional do that and i will.
I will update to see if there's any change because the last time i thought the care was fixed i ended up having issues....
