So i've driving my 2000 maxima for almost year everyday with no misfiring problems, which really surprised me due to owning 2 other maximas before.

About a month ago i filled up gas and as soon as i turnt her on, the misfiring started. At first the codes read misfire in cylinder 2. so i checked the ignition coil by leaving the car running and unplugging the plug for the coil and it got worse therefore the coil pack it fine. I didnt think it was the spark plug because i had replaced those about 6 months ago. the only thing left (so i figured) was the injector. I figured from the bad gas maybe the injector got clogged. so i replaced it and cleared the code. Still misfiring.

After the code came back, this time read random/multiple misfiring. i checked the spark plugs, all brown. so i replaced them again and cleared the code. Still misfiring.

After the code came back, this time reading misfire in cylinder 1. So with the car running i unplugged coil pack. this time nothing changed. i think its the coil pack now.

Just wanted someone's insist before i change it and then again nothing changes.

 

Have you done anything with the gas that is in the tank? Maybe you got a tank of watered down gas.

 

well thats what i figured, after that tank got down to half i filled it up with 93 and have been using 93 since, still hasnt helped.

but again that was a month (maybe 2) ago, all that gas should have been gone.

 

which coils do you have? gray dot coils?
