Hey when we did my spacers and valve seals, i noticed a lot of my hoses and, and wire wraps looked crappy and old. I was thinking about replacing a lot of these. I was just wondering, If i wanted to switch them up or even get like a different color, where would I get them from and what sizes would I need. Same for wires. Basically I want to replace ( the easier replaceable) hoses and wires on my car and want to know what my options are. All those wraps and tape on the wires, are there better replacement for those?
Sidenote: when cleaning dirt and oil off parts is brake cleaner the only option? Once again, thanks for any input .org!

 

Just use compressed air to clean the engine bay. Never use any liquid spray cleaner, since Nissan engine have multiple sensor, electrical connection on the engine. Liquid spray cleaner might mess up the sensors and connectors. You ended up like having a gorgeous beautiful girlfriend with syphilis

 

Once, back when I had my 3rd gen Maxima, I did one of those spray-on degreasers on my engine. The kind that you spray on while the engine is hot and then hose it off. Even after letting the car sit for hours after the cleaning, it barely ran. The engine would stutter and misfire like crazy. I was afraid of doing damage, so I let it sit overnight before trying to start again. It was better, but still ran rough for most of the day.

 

Thanks guys but I was thinking more of replacing my hoses and wires and wondered what my options were for those, and where to buy them.

 

I replaced most of my old hoses, not wires. I got aviation Teflon hose that you can find easily online and is used in aircraft engines. I got mine for free at work but otherwise I know it's like $6-8/ft or around that price.

Those hoses will last you forever. Here is the description: "Service and shelf life of Aeroquip Teflon hose is unlimited for all practical purposes. They can be used in fuel, hydraulic and pneumatic applications at working pressures to 1500psi. Minimum burst pressures are 8000 psi sizes -3 to -8. Temperature range is -65° to +450° F."

As for sizes, just take off what you need replaced, measure and buy the same size and always get your hoses a bit longer so you have some room for error when replacing. As for wiring, I simply switched out the old crappy wire looms with brand new ones, cheap and easy.
