Is it okay to straight wire the AC Compressor on a 2000?

What do you mean by "straight wire"?

I'm going to say NO.

There is a reason the compressor isn't running and some of those reasons are to prevent the compressor from self-destructing. If the R134A refrigerant has leaked out, so has the oil. Running the compressor with no oil would not be a good idea.

Does the car have manual climate control that uses slide levers or does it hav auto climate control with a digital display?

Expanding on what Dennis said. There's a high pressure cut out, low cut out and evap temp cut out. Hard wiring it will certainly kill it quickly and could possibly damage other components on the system.

It's a brand new compressor. The pigtail melted when the old compressor went out, and it's like pulling teeth to try and find another one. I've been to all the junk yards around, and they don't have them. Thanks for you guys' help! I like that, "The older the 4th generation gets, the younger the owners"..lol. That's right!

Now I understand the reason for the question. In this case you could hard wire it, although it will be more difficult for future repairs.

But I am surprised that you can't find the connector in a junk yard. It may be in how you are asking/looking. The 4th, 5th and 6th generations of Maxima use the same connector. This means cars from 1995 through 2008. Those are the ones I checked.

This connector is determined by Calsonic, the manufacturer of the a/c compressor tha Nissan used. Since probably all models of Nissan use the Calsonic a/c compressor, this means the Sentra, Altima, Pathfinder, etc all use this connector. The wire colors may be different, but the connector is the same.
