02 maxima abs problem

I have an 02 maxima and I have been chasing this abs issue for more than 8 months and finally decided to fix it myself. Is this abs ring in the right place or should it be further down the hub towards the sensor?

what codes are you throwing, if any?

check the FSM, AX-20. it has specs on the clearance between abs sensor ring and hub. check your electrical connectors/harnesses, check wiring for shearing, cuts, fraying, check for debris in between abs sensor and abs sensor ring, check sensor ring for damage/cracks. could be your abs sensors itself. make sure you use some kind of dielectric grease, makes disconnecting/connecting harness much smoother, plus it protects connections from environmental elements.

From the photo, it looks about right, but you need to pull the wheel hub off to measure. The specification is .5 inch from the edge of the wheel hub. The directions are in the BR (Brakes) section on page 139. It is also in the AX (Axles) section as zenjia pointed out, but the page number in the 2002 FSM is page 19, not page 20 like in the 2003 manual.

the front will be on your CV axle, looks like gear rings the rears will be on your hub bearing assembly which is typically what Nissan called it tone ring.

i agree with DennisMik and ty for the clarification between FSM-'02 vs.'03, looks about right. tone ring/sensor ring is soft metal, could get damaged, but where it's situated on the rear axle/hub, imo seems rare, throwing my guess towards the abs sensor and/or connection.
