2002 rear calipers not functioning...

Okay so I tried searching the threads for this issue and had no luck, forgive me if this has already been discussed.

I replaced the rear calipers on my 2002 a year and half ago when I was unable to reset them after a pad/rotor swap. Everything seemed to go well, bled them, tested, everything felt good.

Now this is my wife's car, (I have a 2003 so I rarely drive hers), and I recently noticed the parking brake took a lot to engage. When I had it in for tires last week I asked them to adjust the parking brake, they told me that the rear brakes were not functioning and I needed replacement calipers... So I took it home and pulled the wheels off, sure enough it doesn't look like they have been functioning. Since it seems impossible that 2 calipers have failed simultaneously, anyone have some insight as to why they wouldn't work? There are plenty of threads discussing calipers that stick but none that show any non functioning.

My first obvious thought is air in the lines, I will probably try a good bleed to rule that out. Are the rear lines separate or are they connected? That certainly would be a factor.

Is there a way to adjust the caliper prior to installation? Maybe I failed to do something during installation?

I am at a loss, I did the same install not 6 months later on my 2003 and have had zero issues with them.

Appreciate any advice you can throw my way!

Very common issue is the slide pins in the torque member (bracket that holds the pads) seize up within.

Remove and hit the pins with a bench grinder to clean up, re-grease and check.
